Accessaries that work
Hey Guys, I mentioned that I would post the results of my testing of the Trol-A-Matic trolling plate on my 195DC. It worked well. I was able to troll down slow enough to drag a flatfish on my downrigger as well as live bait and a big spoon on my lead line. The results were that we landed (6) nice lake trout and (1) dumb landlocked salmon yesterday (sorry, no pics of the fish, remembered the refreshments, but forgot the camera).
Trol-A-Matic, Cabelas Item # IH-012282. This required a bit of "modifying" on the cavitation plate mount to get around the torque steer adjuster. No problem though (see photo). Along with getting my trolling speed down for slow trolling, it did not adversely effect top end speed or the ability to reverse, surprisingly enough. And guess what, never had to worry about sheer pins. "set it and forget it". Downrigger mount Gimbal adapter, Cabelas Item #IH-010594. This was an easy install and was solid with my 8lb weight. Just had to get some stainless steel flat head machine screws. Gimbal Mount Rod Holder, Cabelas Item #IH-014524. This worked pretty well. Had to add a little electric tape to the gimbal tube adapter, as it was a bit too loose in the hole. I needed to get my rod out a bit further and I'm not a big fan of having rods sticking straight up out of the flush mount rod holders while lake trolling (also less chance of fouling with my center trolling line). |
