191 F/S in chop/swells/wake

Looking to buy a new 191 F/S. Can anyone advise on the boats performance in rough water? Will be using the boat in the Chesapeake Bay, where conditions can change quickly.

195 F/S Chop, swell...

Do not own 195 but had opportunity to observe a 195 CC anchored in the Hook at Cape Lookout, NC from my 170 CC.

There was 18-20 kt. SW wind with 2 ft. + waves. On the 170, three of us were anchored but required to keep one hand to hold on or brace against leaning post or console when using two hands for fishing.

The 195 CC (same hull as 195 F/S) with two adults and two kids on board was just bobbing easily at anchor. The kids were playing all over the boat as they should. Both wearing life jackets. There was a major difference in the comfort level over there compared to my experience.

A good on the water test under conditions that you are concerned about will answer a lot of questions.

Good Luck.

I had good luck yesterday

I was out in 3 foot seas in Puget Sound yesterday and the boat did great. I'm not the most seasoned boater but found that running about 28-30knots got me to run on top of the wave crests and did very well. We did this for more than an hour. I was expecting my wife to complain about the trip but she reported that she had a blast. I was amazed! Nice ride and no hard pounding that you get with other boats. Very happy with my new 191 F/S

I have a 191fs and fish out of Eureka Ca and have fished in 6 to 9 ft seas without any problem. It gets a bit sloppy but the boat can take it.

I Have The 191f/s With A 150 4-stroke Yamaha; Been On The Very Lower Potomac And Rappahannock Rivers; Most Of Time Feel Very Safe, But On A Couple Of Occasions, Did Not Attempt To Put Boat On Plane As Felt Like Everything Would Shake Loose (even My Teeth) And Did Not Want To Have To Deal With Repairs (i.e. Loose Screws Etc...). I Have Heard That The Center Window Door Of The 191 Becoming Broken (probably Due To Boat Flex And To Some Degree Improper Window Installation). On One Occasion Having Too Many Little Kids (4) On Board Did Not Put On Plane And Crawled Back To Launch (approx. 5mi) Wherein A 20 Ft. Runabout Fishing Close By Left A Minute Before (also With Two Small Kids On Board) Took Off And Got Up On Plane With No Problem And Zoomed Away. Imo, The 191f/s May Not Have Enough Deep-v For The C. Bay When Weather Changes Quickly, But Then Again Maybe I'm Just Not Comfortable Flying And Bouncing At The Seat Of My Pants. I Do Frequent Very Large Lakes And Have Been In Many Rough Conditions Which Included Multiple Boat Wakes From All Directions And I Rarely Slowed Down From Top End. I Also Believe There Was A Guy With A 210 Who Would Go Off-shore And His T-top Let Loose From The Boat; I Guess It Boils Down To Ones Boating Style And Risk Taking.... I Do Like My 191f/s For The Family And Taking Friends Out Tubing & Fishing; Safe For The Kids To Play In Without Having To Stress Over Watching Them And I Really Like To Fish Out Of It; Lots Of Room For Everyone To Move Around And Clean-up Is Easy.

191fs forsale

I had a25 boat fleet of 191s on Lake George NY . The lake is 32 miles long and can kick up 5-6 foot waves. the boats will handle this condition with a little common sense. I also have some 2005 191fs boats with 115 yamaha motors bimini tops and swim platforms, all well maintained, on ezloader trailers with brakes. I am retirering after 40 years and closing up the dealership. The boats are in Albany NY and are only 14,995. I canbe reached on my cell phone at 518 858-9899. Pictures are on our web site beckleys@nycap.rr.com.
