At 6,000 rpm my 2004 191 f/s with a 140 suzuki four stroke only runs at 32 mph with coast gaurd essentials and my wife and I who are normal size people. Any thoughts on proper mph.

Trim for higher speeds

To get more speed, trim the motor up. It forces the boat higher on plane = less friction. I can get my 195CC near 40mph with a Yama 115.

Great idea, but I have done that. I have grown up around boats and have done all the typical stuff. Wondering more about water in hulls being a problem on these boats, or proper engine height on transom. I am currently looking to see if the hub has spun on the prop

searay,
Is that GPS MPH or speedometer. Sometimes there can be quite a difference. Good luck.

What size prop are you running?
Here's a link to what I have come up with on my 190 with a 115.
Comprehensive prop results on Yami 115

My gps and speedometer both show 30-32 mph. I have a three blade aluminum prop 21 pitch stock yamaha prop. I think I should turn 6000 with a 17 or 19 pitch. I am told that a 21 should have me down in low 5,000's. My 27' cruiser runs 45 no reason this should be slower, or should it???

With a 21 pitch prop you should definitely be down in the very low 5000 rpm range. You've got me stumped. Is the motor mounted all the way down on the transom?
