New 195 on order

Hi all,

I'm not a Triumph owner yet, but I have a 195 DC on order and it should be delivered in a couple of weeks (fingers crossed). I've been doing a lot of research on this site and others. I am a first time boat buyer and this of course is a big decision and I want to make the right one.

I went to the Cedar Point Boat Show yesterday in Sandusky, OH and had the opportunity to talk with a Triumph Factory Rep. I hit him with as much of the negatives that I could find on the website and was satisfied with the answers that he gave in conjunction with the support of dealership where I'll make the purchase. I was comforted by the fact that the 195 DC's hull was a redesign with the lessons learned factored in.

There were a lot of new and used boats at the show, and I'm sure I could have found something for less, but I'm sold on the hull material and the clean look of the boat.

The boat will have every option available except for the Ski Tow Pylon and the Port Side Storage (wish now that I ordered this). I'm having a Garmin fishfinder/GPS, Uniden VHF radio and a compass installed. I think I also have the dealer set me up with an extra battery setup.

Just can't wait to take delivery.

Congratulations. You can always ask your dealer if its to late to add to your order. Maybe they can change it for you. Worth a phone call to find out.

The 195 is a sweet looking boat.

I bought a 195cc in May and now have 90 hours on it. I am in Mentor in NE Ohio. I was raised in boats and have always had my own boat since I was 15 years old, and my Triumph is the best one I have ever owned. I must be one of the lucky ones, I have not had one problem or complaint about the whole boat, motor (135hp Honda 4stroke), trailer, package since I got it. But I do plan to put a dual battery setup in it this winter. Congrats on your purchase, too bad its so late in the season. Where do you intend to use your boat most of the time?

congrats tfink, sounds like we are both going to take delivery of our 195 DC's about the same time. I am sure looking forward to getting mine.
and its just in time to roll into our Aussie summer . If you go with the dual battery set up i suggest you look into a battery management system. For not much more than the standard 3 way switch, these systems automatically ensure your "starter" battery is never drained, I really like that point. So What motor is she being fitted with ?

rscott, I am bummed about the timing. I live in the Dayton, Ohio area, I plan to use the boat locally at Grand Lake as well as Lake Erie out of Port Clinton. I'm also planning a trip to Lake Norris and considering taking it to Oak Island, NC.

p.s. I have a really good friend who lives in Mentor.

Aussie Triumph, it's funny that you mentioned the battery management system for the dual batteries. I was looking through the Overton's catalog and ran across a neat little device that I was considering. The device is a battery monitor that will shut off the electrical current when the battery falls to 11.9 volts. The monitor has a reset switch so that when you trigger it you can start the engine. The cost is only about $100, a little more if you want a remote switch to re-engage the battery. Not sure if anyone has experience with this.

tfink and Aussie Triumph, have you read the "Article" - "Additions and Modifications to our 2005 210CC" ? In the article we described how we changed our electrical system. Might not be what you had in mind. Just an idea. It has really worked out for us.

Thanks for the information Vic, I read the information that you suggested. I'm going to try and easier route, I'm hoping that this will work for me.

I purchased a battery brain from Overton's. I haven't received it yet, but I'm hoping to get it soon.
