195 DC on the open Ocean
Well I took my 195 out of Little River into the open ocean and had a blast. Going out it was windy and cool (67 Degrees). We exited the inlet during high tide and fought the currents with no problem. We turned North and escaped the Jetty turbulance and hit somewhat calmer waters with 3 foot waves and approx. 8 second intervals. We went 4 miles North East and the winds picked up and just as fast the waves built to about 4-7 feet and 5-6 second intervals. White caps and chop chop chop. We turned back and after a steady progress to the inlet we decided to stay on the Intercoastal the rest of the day. Verdict.... The boat did great, never had a wave come into the boat with us, just lots of sea spray. A lot of high wave riding with a couple of hard bumps but not a bad ride. Engine never faultered and was steady going the whole trip. Bildge never had to kick on. The boat fared well the people on the other hand got the brunt. Wife changed seats with her friend at the same time we hit a big wave and both went to the floor. I didnt laugh until I was sure they were fine. Then my wife and her friends Husband started feeling some sea sickness but got over it quickly.
So there is my report. I would do it again but in calmer seas and warmer weather. Thanks for reading. Roger

OK, So I took this kid fishing. Ya know like they say on the fishing programs. My question is this.... "Where is the best place to put the hook?"

Roger,
Way to go!! I fish out of Sothport often.There is a good inlet there. Go to NC division of marine fisheries website and you can get all of the GPS numbers of all of the Artificial reefs around Sothport, Oak Island, or the whole NC coast. Most of them are within a few miles of the inlets and they are great places to fish when you come down for a few days. At least a good starting point until you find you own fishing spots. You can put them in your GPS while you're home and they'll be there when you get back to the coast. Let me know if you cannot find them and I'll get the info. John D.
