To Old Barney-
I had the same problem with my new 235 as well as the same problem with my previous Quintrex that I traded in. My solution was to remove the factory windshield on both of these boats. As long as you have the 2 rubbing together you will continually scratch the acrylic. Maybe there is something you can put between them but I don't know what it is. If someone comes up with something I may put the original windshield back to give the enclosure some support and backing. Just another thought. |

On the 195 CC, here is what my dealer told me about the friction control...on the bottom right of the front of the throttle casing is a pop out plug...If you look in there you will a screw. All you need do is turn the screw clockwise to increase the friction and tighten the control handle. Keep checking until you get the "feel" you want and just pop the lid back on the casing. I'm like you and like the ability to set the tension to hold the rpm level I chose (without falling off). Just be carefull not to overtighten to the point you loose ability for quick throttle response.
On my windshield, the dealer is ordering me a new one. I told Triumph rep that perhaps they should look into this problem. There must be a simple fix to keep the plastic enclosure away from acrylic like removable spacers that clip onto the T-Top front bars. It's a lot cheaper than replacing windshields! Hope this helps-John |
