New Boat Update

I just about near froze to death yesterday but got my new 195CC home safely! Barnegat Bay had one of her nasty chops days to greet me...I could not believe how well the boat took the chop and gave me a very smooth and dry ride. It has been raining since last night and is predicted to continue for the next few days...Welcome to New Jersey.
Based on wind and weather I doubt there will be chance for any more engine break in time until late Sunday or Monday. The only issue I had at delivery was the throttle control...It was way to loose for me. The dealer made some adjustment, but I will have to fine tune (he showed me how) next time out. Yamaha ran great right on test specs for prop size, etc.
I noticed one other item with the windshield when I got her home...Seems like front enclosure plastic was right up against the windshield for several days before delivery and left some marks (like smudges or scratches) in several places where they touched. I tried plain water but couldn't get them off. Any of you guys have any such issues or can recommend what type of product might clean them off the windhield? How do you keep these acrylic windscreens in good shape?
Overall, I'm very pleased so far...Will get back with more info as soon as the rain stops!!

Do NOT use glass cleaner. There are products specifically made to clean acrylic boat windshields. Here is an interesting article on the subject.

Here is another interesting article:
BOAT WINDSHIELD AND WINDOW CARE AND MAINTENANCE

My dealer, Merritt Marine, has recommended Star Brite Plastic Scratch Remover on the Windshield's and plastic curtains. It takes off stains Salt and surface discoloration.

NCangler...Thanks for the help. I read the articles and they were right on point. I will try the Starbrite Merritt recommended. Have you heard of an aeorosol product called "Plexus"? It is sold locally and is used on aircraft and other acrylic windshields. It has some "fill in" capacity for scratches as well. Thanks again-John

Hey Skip...We are neighbor's! My place is on a lagoon in Forked River. The dealer is right around the corner from you. Statewide Marine at the end of bay road. Very good dealer so far...Salesman name is Larry Pellozio. If you go down, tell them I sent you...They have sold more triumphs this year than Larson's (their main line boat)...Good luck-John

Old Barney,
Congratulations on your new 195CC. I'm like you,it is a great boat and takes the chop well. I had the same problem with the scars on the windshield from the soft plastic rubbing it before I received it. . I tried a product called Meguiars mirror glaze clear plastic polish. It is good for the soft plastic and the windshield. It did not remove the scratches from the windshield. I only tried a small area. I e-mailed Triumph and asked them if they knew a product that would remove the marks. They said that they did not know of one but to see my dealer about replacing my windshield. I did and they ordered a new one for me. When I tow my boat on the trailer with the t-top enclosure on I place a large towel in between the plastic and the windshield. I fold an end under the bungee cord on the console and the pressure holds the towel on. That should help a lot.I will remove the soft plastic in the summer, but I do not want to look through a sratched up windshield. Good luck.
John D.

Smile Acrylic Windshield Problem

Thanks for getting back to me...I followed your path and emailed Triumph about the scratches on the acrylic windshield from the enclosure before delivery. Same reply to contact the dealer. I went down today and Statewide is ordering me a new windshield.
Dealer feels this is going to keep happening and may, in fact, be a design problem wherein the front enclosure plastic rubbing is going to keep damaging the acrylic. This is only the second year for enclosures on the Triumph CC's. My guess is he is going to talk to Triumph about coming up with a remedy. Thanks again for the help-John

Thanks for the update. BTW for any folks that are not used to curtain enclosures, it is not advisable to trailer your boat with the enclosure on it. A stray rock from a passing 18-wheeler can make a mess of a curtain set. Plus, bugs are easier to get off the Triumph than they are the enclosures in my opinion.

Old Barney,

How does one tighten the throttle control? I was doing a maiden voyage on Buzzards Bay, MA on Saturday in a 215CC. Everything worked great except I thought the throttle was slipping just a little bit .

Thanks,

Prbuzz
