Pedestal Bases on Rear Casting Deck

Hi everyone. I am new to this site.
I am buying a 2005 191 F&S. The rear casting deck is missing the pedestal seat bases that I've seen on all other 191s. Does anyone know if it is easy to install them? Any ideas on what model would work and accept the stock pedestals?
See picture.
Thanks,
Dimitri

I have the 191FS, but with the bases already installed. I suspect you can get bases that work from iboats.com, Boaters World, West Marine, etc. Check for clearance under the deck. Once you have the proper clearance, not only for the base, for for the pedestal if it extends further, then drill and mount.

I installed one on my Key West (traded it on the Triumph) and it wasn't really that difficult. I bought the parts at Boaters World. I mounted it on top of the hatch over storage in the bow, and used a piece of Starboard underneath to give strength and stability. I doubt you really need additional support as the deck is already very strong. Use stainless bolts and/or screws and some elastomeric sealant and you should be fine.

Post some pictures once you're done. Everyone appreciates sharing.

Thanks Waterboy.
I also think it would be pretty easy but Triumph scared me whe they said that I would ned to bolt them to the stringers. This would require removing the motor etc. etc. Are the bases you have "zero profile" flush with thedeck or do they protrude above the deck by about 1/4 inch?
Thanks,
D

Flat against the floor. I've got the 2008 model and they are not tied to the stringer.

bases

Here are some pics. of an 08 and the bases the factory uses. There made by Atwood and I think the part # is 408 7x7 x3.5in deep. Merritt Marine has these and I know they will ship them to you.

Wow you guys are great and you sure know your boats. I'm wondering why Triumph says that they have to be tied into the stringers. There doesn't seem to be any way to do so on these bases. Thanks for your help.

I checked with the Triumph factory on this for you and here was their answer:
Quote:
There is a stainless steel stringer that runs along the upper front edge of the splash well. That is where we through bolt the bases to make them stable. An owner can add access plates to do the through bolting and eliminate pulling up the splash well.

Thanks for that but it sounds a bit complicated. I spoke to Carl at Merritt Marine following Flatfishmoe's post to ask about the bases. He recommended something else. They have an adapter that fits into the ski pole hole and it accepts the pedestal seats. That will solve my problem without having to do any cutting or drilling. I also think that one seat is plenty on the rear deck. I'll post a picture when I get it.
Thanks to everyone for their posts.

Dimitri,
The 2005 model did not come with the pedestals, it only had the adapter for the ski pole that Carl spke of. (at least mine didn't come with anything else). Are you sure that you don't already have it? It's stored in one of the rod holder tubes just like the ski pole.

Was able to look under the splash well as suggested by Triumph. The front two bolts of the starboard pedestal base are through the stainless stringer (which runs from side to side). I imagine that the port base is similarly anchored, but I can't see there as it is behind the live well.

The stringer is about 1.5" to 2" inches square, so the fore side bolts must be long enough to go through it. The two aft side bolts would be anchored to the decking with toggle bolts or using lock washers.

I could also see that if you pull out the built-in tackle box, the access to the stringer for the starboard base is directly above that tackle box. Once the pedestal is installed, re-install the tackle box and you should be set.

I was out fishing a few weeks ago and can confirm that the pedestal bases are great, both fore and aft. Hope that helps.
