Horn disconnected on my 2008 191FS

When I got my 2008 191FS, the horn worked, although I do agree it is mighty wimpy! Halfway thru my first weekend on the water (and fortunately after the SC DNR checked my boat), the horn quit. When I took out the trolling motor plug panel to look at it, I found that the wires had come off of the horn terminals (they were connected with female spade lugs). I also found that the wires were run from the console thru the foam in the gunnel and were almost too short to reach the horn. I pulled on them some and got enough slack in the wires to reconnect them to the horn. I believe the foam is causing the wiring to move to the point that the vibration from the waves causes them to disconnect.

It has been fine since.

A few things I would check.

1 Was their water in the horn.
2 Is it getting the proper voltage. Are the wires corroded.
3 as said in a above post the horn is poorly placed and the horn may be damaged.

good luck. hope this helps

I will check this stuff but it pretty much has been like that since I bought it new. Thanks for the check list. I will let ya know what I find.
