That is good to know I was on lake michigan and got pulled over by the DNR and they asked me to honk the horn and it didn't work. $75 ticket. I looked for the horn to fix it but had no idea where it was.

thanks

Sorry, that is not a very logical place to mount one... Saltwater would eat that puppy up in no time and no wonder why it did not even work in freshwater with wave action hitting it all the time

I know this is an old post but I have some input. The horn on my 195DC is the same type. When you blow it it is not loud at all. Wimpy Wimpy Wimpy. It sounds like Weeep Weeep instead of HONK HONK! What is the deal with that. No one can hear it. I got pulled on the lake for a safety inspec. and they asked to hear the horn and the laughed when I blew it. How embarrasing. I keep a whistle on there and when they laughed I picked it up and blew the whistle. Hurt my ears and theirs. I passed my inspection. I still want a loud horn. But I want it to be where it is instead of drilling holes for a new one. Any ideas?

Fireman

i just fixed my horn this morning. It seems a previous owner cut the wires to the horn. My horn is louder than my car and truck. It has a high pitched sound like a small car or a motorcycle just louder. I am pretty sure it is a stock horn.

A few things I would check.

1 Was their water in the horn.
2 Is it getting the proper voltage. Are the wires corroded.
3 as said in a above post the horn is poorly placed and the horn may be damaged.

good luck. hope this helps
