Question Livewell Pump Issues - 195CC

I was out this weekend on my 195CC and my livewell pump stopped working. After taking a long run it started working again but then stopped. I decided to use my raw water washdown to keep my bait alive and once I turned the raw water pump on the livewell pump started working again. It only seemed to work when I had the washdown turned on. I'm thinking it might be cloged but why does it work when the washdown is on? I'm not sure where the intake is for the livewell but I felt along the stern under the water line and found three holes - none of which felt clogged. Maybe it's clogged in the boat somewhere. Any ideas on where the problem might be and how to fix it without having to bring it to my dealer are appreciated.

On my 07 195CC, there is an access port on the starboard stern. Open it and the raw water pump is there. This is the same pump for both baitwell and washdown. I just replaced mine this weekend. You may have an issue in the lines or a major leak (known problem). If one is working then the pump is not the issue. It may be a loose wire on your switch.

BostonFisher,
The livewell intake is on the bottom of the hull. If you trailer your boat you should be able to see it with the boat on the trailer. It is a high speed pick up.When you are running it should force water into the livewell if the valve is open inside of the livewell tank even with the pump switch in the off position. . If it will not work sitting in the water in neutral you may have a small piece of debris stuck in the line. You can possibly backflush the system with a low pressure water supply to the spray nozzel in your tank. Turn on the garden hose at a slow rate and hold it against the intake line in your tank and see if it will force water back out of your thru hull line. With the livewell full of water and the switch off it should drain slowly through the intake line. If it does then its probably not clogged. Probably what NJWARDY mentioned;Loose wire. Good luck.

I've always kept the valve open and I never noticed any water in it when I was running. Maybe that's a clue to the problem. It did seem to pump water when I turned it on though until recently. Now after a hard run it work sand then it stops so it might be a clog. I'll try running a hose into it from the livewell and test to see if it drains out the pump line or not. It's not easy for me to put it on a trailer but I may have to as a last resort.

Thanks to everyone for the tips!

Bostonfisher,
I do not have a washdown hose on my 195CC.Is there a valve that turns it off and the livewell on? Will both the livewell and the washdown work at the same time? The problem may be in the valve system for both the washdown and the livewell.Just a suggestion since I do not have both.
