Livewell/Bilge

I have 2 questions for my 195 DC. Firts the livewell pump Rule Pro series 700gph leaked profusely since I got it last summer. I should of had it taken care of by the company I bought the boat but didn't. They still will do it but they are way behind in service so it may be a while. I emailed rule and if I send it to them they will replace it. Can I take out the livewell pump in the water?

Also I am noticing at time my bilge (rule 1100) will come on when it isn't necessary and sometime it won't when it should. If I togle it on it works fine. Is this a problem witht he auto and any suggestions what to look at?

Sorry if these are stupid questions this is my first boat and I am loving it. Tis site is really helpful for taking care of things yourself.

Directly under your baitwell pump is a seacock ( a quarter turn ball valve ) that will stop the flow of any water into the boat. Just close it before you start.
As for the bilge pump, I would be sure it is working properly before leaving the boat at a dock.
They usually don't come on till there is several inches of water in the bilge. You might try disassembling the unit if it has an internal switch to check for debris. A company by the name of Water Witch makes excellent replacement switches that have no moving parts.

Thanks

I saw the ball cock and figured that woulod work just wanted to be sure. The bilge works fine but the switch may have issues. The dock I put it at is in my yard on a lake so I can check it very frequesntly. I will get onit right away though. Thanks.

Known problem with overtightening (although Triumph won't admit). I had the same problem and I would wager that your bildge phantom operation has everything to do with a leaky raw water pump. I just replaced mine this weekend with a dealer supplied replacement pump (Rule 800gph, model 403STC - Tournament Pump).
“STC” Tournament SeriesTM Removable Motor Cartridge > Livewell Pumps > Pumps > Rule - ITT
Did it while it was in the water by clsong the ball valve. Had to open the stern access panel to gain complete access. Not hard at all. Make sure you have ElastoMeric Sealant for the access panel screws.

Are you sure that the baitwell pump is defective? Since your boat is at the dock, turn on the pump and check to see if it leaks at the hose connection from the pump. It could be just loose hose clamps or the pump could be cracked at the outlet to the hose connection. I remember reading that a few came from the factory cracked. Watching it a few minutes while running and snugging up the hose clamps may save you from removing it. Good luck.

We got a bunch of debris from trees over the canal we were tied up to in a rainstorm, and had our bilge pump stick on once. Once was enough, I'm interested in the Water Witch.

Which model fits our stock bilge pump? The 217 or the 101? Thanks!
