my weekend project

I started out the weekend taking out the back folding seat because we never use it. After that was out I was thinking that I needed more rod holders for salmon fishing and after thinking about it i desided i was sick of putting together fishing rigs in my lap or on the side of the boat so i would also need some type of table. I went the hardware store and grabbed a 10 foot peice of 2 inch conduit and a quart of marine paint. $30. I had 2 peices of angle iron at home along with some plywood for the table top. Went home and got to work

Here is the result.

Hello,
This is exactly what I was looking for. Looks great. My problem is that I need to keep the back seats in, this would mean that I need to make the table removable. Is yours set up that way? I was trying to figure out if I could swivel-eze posts and attach a table to them. Your solution is much more cost friendly. What would you suggest? How stable is your table while underway? Is it locked in? Let me know if you've got any other suggestions. Thanks

Great job.

good idea

HTR.
Good idea-the brain wheels are already turning over the possibilities with my boat. Thanks for the great ideas!

Nice! I need a table but I think I want one that folds down against the gunwale when not in use. I have the 195DC so the rear seats are easy in/out and individual. I honestly rarely use them but need my table to be able to fold down so I can put the seats in when company goes with us. Your setup is awsome, You did a great job.

On the rear deck of my boat there are 2 holes for extra seats. The table is sitting in these holes and is removeable. The holes are a little bigger than the 2 inch conduit I used so I wrapped duck tape to make up the difference and make a snug fit. I am going to find some heat srink tubing to take place of the duck tape but for now the duck tape will work. I have not tried it out on the water yet but it doesn't seem to move at all when i push and pull on it.

The only problem I have is the bimini top does not fold down. It is about 2 inches short to clear the table.

My next project is a foward leaning wakeboard tower with rocket launchers.

How did you connect the conduit to the angle iron?

Some very poor looking welds. Got a small mig welder for christmas and this was the first time I used it. The welds look bad but hold up well.

You may have done this already, but be sure to clean the galavanize off of the conduit before welding. That will help weld quality alot. Also the fumes from burning off the galvanizing is EXTREMELY toxic. I was building a minibike when I was a kid and just about passed out while welding after getting one breath of that smoke.

Galvanized welding

PLEASE be extremely carefull to over-ventilate when working on galvanized material. I am a hobby blacksmith and know personally of 2 smiths who died ugly deaths within 2-3 weeks of exposure to excess zinc fumes. Just long enough to write warnings to others before their family buried them! Sorry if I sound extreme but this is an isue close to me. http://www.anvilfire.com/iForge/ Scroll down and go to "safety III" metal fume fever
