Windshield repair update

This past weekend the dealer repaired my windshield. Both sides were moved closer to reduce the gap and rebolted into that position. The ball and socket type windshield braces were replaced by solid SS supports provided by Triumph. We had the boat out on Monday at the lake, and so far, the fix appears to be working. The real test will be in the chop when we make a trip to the bay. I have had to replace the piece of weatherstrip between the center portion and the stationary section three times. After a day on the water and trailering, the upper section of the strip gets ripped to shreds. I have installed a piece of heavy duty door edge guard, like you would find to provide you protection from the edges of sheet metal or protect the edge of your car door from dings. It seems to work really well on the water, but wants to come loose at the top and bottom when trailering. As a side note, I seem to get much better SAT. radio service now that the center section of the window can be closed. Hope this helps.

191FS windshield troubles

Our screws break & the windshield separates with every trip...on water or trailer. It makes it hard for me to stop my husband from wanting to remove the entire walk-trough section so I am constantly re-adjusting & checking the screws so it doesn't crash & break!

I will suggest we change out the braces to him but what's the word on this being a hull defect with too much flex? anyone get feed back from the dealer or triumph?

I have a 2005 191 F?S with a 150 Yamaha 4-Stroke with a 4-blade prop (after complaining about cavitation to my dealer). It's really strange--when not pulling someone behind the boat, I can make extremly sharp turns going about 45 MPH. However, if I am pulling someone, the motor will cavitate extremely easily. If anyone has a fix, please help...

Someone earlier mentioned a "cavitation plate." What is that, and how do I adjust it?

Thanks

Windshield Update..........

Since the dealer had made the repairs to my windshield, I have had no more problems. Does the windshield flex somewhat.......yes it does .....how could it not based on the design and material used to construct the boat. 4greg I suggest that you contact your dealer and work with them to get your issue resolved. One thing that I have done that seems to help is I removed the thin piece of foam from the center section and replaced it with a piece of door edge guard. This seems to keep the center section from shifting alot when closed and latched. I also applied a small amount of loc-tite to the latch screws to keep them from backing out. 4greg, if I can provide anymore info to help.....just let me know.

The 191FS is my second Triumph that I purchased new. I had a 2002 170DC that was a perfect starter boat for my family and I that we used heavily for 2+ years with no major issues. Is it the perfect boat.......for us it is.

BTW, I contacted someone at the factory about this out of curiousity and they replied:
Quote:
Randy this can be fixed but they will have to take it to the dealer. The dealer should call ahead so that the parts can be there when the Customer drops off the boat.
Sounds like more than reasonable service and support to me. If you've got a problem with your windshield contact your dealer and have it taken care of.

Windshield problems are due to flex of the boat. This has been problematic for the dual console boats

Question Love our boat & dealer!

Didn't want to heat things up!!! Sorry!
We love our boat! The windshield problem is really our only one (so far)...I mean other than whether I can leave the seats in & be comfy...or my husband hides them to have the space to fish!
This is our 2nd Triumph & we're thinking of a 3rd (the big off shore...for kicks!)... I mean I would never be comfortable in a fiberglass boat again...the ride stinks!...the noise!...the extreme worry I have about rubbing against anything in a boat that breaks! I don't think I could (or would) enjoy boating now that I've had the virtually maintenance-free triumphs!...We fish dirty & haul everywhere!...a quick spray-down at the do-it-yourself car wash & the whole boat looks good as new!...never that easy in a grady or boston!

Wish Carl in NC was closer for the windshield fix! Anyone recommend a dealer in the SE PA area besides Holicon?...(We were not thrilled there...bad vibes)

Also have some water in one rod holder (back right) where do they drain? Must be a cherry pit (dm tree!) clogging it...or maybe a minnow (slipper things!)

thanks to all for the happy help!

W/s

I just purchased a used 05 FS. The windshield has been modified to remove the closing section. I guess in colder/windier weather, the closing section might come in handy. Right now in the warm summer months, a little extra wind never hurts.

I have a 05 that had the SS supports installed at the factory and I still get the separation. I called triumph and they were perplexed since I had the new design. They said I can take it to dealer but that will need to wait since I am 150 miles from nearest dealer they would recommend. They said it would be fine to wait to august even though it would be out of warranty. Besides that, I LOVE my 191.
