I have a 2005 191F/S with the factory installed swim platform. It is almost impossible for an adult to get in from the water using it. I find myself using the motor ventilation plate for a step. OK for me, but I don't want the wife and kids using it. I would like to find a permanent solution even if it means replacing the whole thing with a new setup. I have seen a few ladders but none seem to look like a good solution. A retractable ladder would be best and 3 or 4 rungs below the waterline would be nice. I'm trying to avoid using a portable ladder if possible. Love the boat, but the ladder is a joke. I have noticed other manufacturers have the same problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I looked at what Triumph offered but really didn't like the ladder/platform set up. I installed a Garelick 3 rung sport dive ladder on the port transom. I used a ss backing plate inside the port locker and outside. The finished ladder install I think looks better and I think it is sturdier than the platform. The ladder sells for about 150 bucks at most boating places. I'll send some pics if you want to see my set up. Hope this helps.

Have you looked at the telescoping ladders that replace the one step ladder that comes on the Triumph swim platform? I've seen them at Boater's World. They look to be good quality steps. You can get a 2,3,or 4 step ladder that telescopes and folds on the platform like the one step that Triumph has on it's swim platform. I'm thinking about changing my one step to a three step. I have an after market swim platform. The overplatform telescoping ladder from Boater's World will fit on mine. I don't know if it would replace the step on Triumph's platform.

I finally came up with a solution that seems to work great. I purchased a Windline SM-3X ladder and mounted it under the existing swim platform. I found it necessary to also mount another piece of composite deck material of the same thickness under the original to prevent flexing. I then ran some SS carriage bolts throuh the deck material to the ladder below. I placed some SS washers between the deck material and the ladder the same thickness as the SS platform support strap. The ladder protrudes from the back of the platform a few inches but it is well worth it to have a functional ladder. I attached a rope to the bottom rung to pull it back up and place a loop on the rope around the rear cleat to keep the ladder from falling open. Works Great!
