Questions about the 191 FS

I just came across the new 191 F/S last weekend and it has all the features I'm looking for but I'm just starting my research.

The model I saw had a 150 Yamaha but would a 115 or 125 HP motor be sufficient or do you think I'd miss the extra HP? I'd also like to put a kicker on this for trolling.

One thing I'm reading about is potential inner hull drainage problems. Has anyone yet experienced this on the 191 FS? I forgot to ask if this model has a self bailing cockpit as well. It doesn't appear to have a raw water washdown in the specs so I'm guessing not. I'll be on Lake Erie where there could a lot of spray coming into the boat I'm really concerned about this now.

Thanks.

I thought that some of the 191's had inner hull drains installed from the factory. Dick can comment on that. I'm not sure if it was the FS, DC or WT. Don't get so wraped up in the inner-hull issue. I haven't done the mod on my 2002 190 Bay. The boat sits at the same water line it did when since I purchased the boat.

I'm happy with my Honda 130 on my 190 - would likely be as happy with a 115.

there are issues with the windshields on the f/s models that you need to make sure the dealer gets the retrofit done before buying see the posts on this in this same forum

If you plan to use the "S" or ski aspect, I'd max the hp out for sure.

191 Fs

I bought a 191 FS in March. My wife and I love it. We have a 140 four stroke Suzuki with a 9.9(pull start no power trim 2,500.00 plus tax and install) four stroke Suzuki kicker motor. The motors are great. They run very well and are very quite. What ever motor you go with I reccommend a 9.9 kicker. One other thing about Suzuki is they are the lightest outboard on the market. I am going to install a washdown pump. I would have the dealer do it before you pick it up. There is extra power by the bilge pump already wired to the panel. The problem is that it is very tight down there and it would take two people to install. The boat fishes very well. We are taking it to Oregon next week to troll for salmon in the Rouge river bay. The only thing I need to get know are electric downriggers, which I should have done when I bought the boat. Good luck
