Bayberry, have you checked your vent hose routing? Does it look like it can hold water, blocking venting air? That is what this thread seems to be about. Otherwise, I think we all have a problem with the pump not shutting off over-filling the tank when full. But only a few have issues while filling a partially filled tank. If the vent doesn't allow the gas to properly displace air, then the gas can't get in at the rate you're pumping.

On our '03 190DC, we had the same frustrating problem. I first asked the dealer about it, they told me it was the gas pumps. However, we found the vent under the gas cap was turned sideways, blocking airflow. Turned that around and we could fuel at the gas stations. However, it was still a rather slow process. Exxon/Mobile stations seem to pump gas a little faster than others (?). Make sure the boat is sitting level.

I have the same problem on my 195DC I had it back to the dealer and they trimmed the hose. The problem is when the tank is full the vent fills with gas. This is because the hose dips down under the rear stainless cross brace and their isn,t any wat to raise the vent hose so the gas drains back to the tank. I called Triumph and talked to the engineer, but they don't have a solution yet. I had the back cover off the tank and found this. If anyone has a solution to this problem I would appreciate any help with this.

I took delivery on a 2008 191 FS last week and filled it with fuel today. It took 15 minutes to put in 40 gals. I had to stop about every half gallon to let the fuel filler line empty. I ended up putting about a quart or more on the ground in back of the boat. There has to be a solution to this. This is absurd.

I contacted Triumph on your behalf on this and this was the reply:
Quote:
He should return the boat to the dealer there may be too much fuel filler
hose which would cause a situation where the fuel is trying go up hill.
Secondly there might be an issue with the breather in either case it can and
will be handled under warranty.

Also because the 191 fuel fill is located on the top of the splashwell there
is less "drop" or distance between the fill/vent and the tank than other
Triumph models. As a result there is more chance to get a "belly" in either the
fill or vent line which can trap fuel, making it hard to fill the tank.

NCangler:

Thanks. The dealer is coming to pick up the boat from my home today. This will be the fourth item to be fixed. Hopefully, all items can be done at once.

Sometimes it takes awhile to tweak everything, whether a boat, car, house, etc. I've had my 215 for about 18 months now and after the initial shake down and adjustments I haven't had any issues at all to deal with. I hope you're enjoying yours soon.

Talked with the dealer today. The vent hose was kinked/twisted, making it not functional. Next time I add fuel, I will see if this solves the problem. Thanks for the advice.

I have had two 190 bays and have had the same exact issue with both. The 08 model seems to be a little worse but I just figured that it was normal. Mike, will you pick up my boat too? LOL

Trust me, not being able to fuel the boat without spewing gasoline on the groud is definitely not normal. But it's nice to see that you have a good sense of humor about it.
