May also think about trailering and tow vehicle size. I like the versitility of the Bay 190 and occasionally want something bigger, but bigger than the 215. If you are going offshore alot go 215, if you are in 2' water and bays most frequently, go 195. I have had six adults on the Bay 190 but not fishing. Fishing best with 3 adults for comfort/room not sure on the 215.

Items to also consider...
1. How deep is the water in these back bays that you are fishing in? (draft requirments) which the 190 wins in that area hands down. 2. How long are your fishing runs for the 195 and 215 will carry a lot more fuel. 3. How much "open" 360 degree casting deck space do you need both bow and stern? For bow rails can get in your way when trying to both fish and launch / recover your boat. 4. Trailer requirments (single or dual axle) for if you have short boat ramps in your area, it is much easier to piviot and back down a single axle trailer much less, deal (or not deal) with the trailer brake issues in salt water. Many of these questions only you can answer, but I at least wanted you to know about those questions first which my help you with making the logical choice for 90% of your boat use. Hope this helps some? Dave

Thanks. I plan to keep the boat on the water all season (April through September) and will only trailer it for the winter. I will use it 90% of the time in the bay (depth 2 - 8 feet) and 10% off shore I suppose.
Are you referring to the 190 or the 195? They seem to be much different boats. My understanding is that the 215 carries 70 gallons of fuel vs 60 for the 195. The draft on the 195 is 14" - the same as the 215. The cockpit looks about the same size in the 215 and 195 (without the jump seats). There is less room to fish up front in the 195 because of the bow seating. |

Yes Doc,
I was talking about the 190 Bay when I was talking thinking about hull drafts which one needs to also "add" about 8 inches or more to those figures when the engine is all the way down. So with both the 195 and 215 you need about 2 foot of water to slow motor around in where as the 190 is less. Now I am not a real big fan of the pictures of the new 195 that Triumph has posted (might be my old eyes) when it comes to really showing (better stated not showing) it's features. But the bow section on the 195 "appears" to make for a much larger forward casting deck than the 215 ever would... This is important if your doing a lot of casting (flats and bass style) of fishing. I though will know more about the 195's hull features as soon as Heartland gets one in. This for I plan on crawling all over one, and take better pictures for posting not only the dealerships web site, but plan on posting some here for everybody to also see. Who knows, maybe the GENMAR web site in their marketing section will post some better shots of the 195 here soon? One can only hope... Tight Lines! Dave

Hi there-
Does anybody else have any experience with the new '06 195CC? I'm planning to check one out at the Charleston Boat Show in a few weeks, and if I like what I see, buy one. I looked at the older 210CC a few times and test drove one, but I moved back down to SC and away from the dealer I had worked with in another state. That was agreat boat, but I think the 195CC might suit me just fine, as I am already downsizing a few feet anyway. How would a 115 Honda 4-storke move her? Never owned a Honda, but if they are like the Hondas/Acuras my family and I have owned, they're probably bulletproof. |

doc
the 195 is the new centerconsole addition to the 191series boats. it has the "deep v" style hull and can be considered a scaled down version of the 210cc and with draft of 14" will not get you in the really skinny stuff. the 190 bay which at 11" has a better draft and is more in the line of all other bay style boats is t h e most versitile boat in the triumph line above 17 ft imo. if you dont ever plan on much really open offshore fishing 4+ waves, the 190 bay's 360degree fishing with large front and rear casting platforms will do the deed for any inshore application. having owned both boats, i speak from experience of while on my old 190/186having every 5th wave break over the bow at anchor in 20+ winds while fishing the coastal sounds of n.c. for bull red drum to running aground in the skinny back waters with the 210cc chasing these same drum robert

My 130 pushes my 190 Bay just over 40 mph and uses very little fuel. Great motor and a good match with my 190 Bay. |

Thank ye kindly! I'll have to get them to quote me the same boat with the bigger engine. I doubt a 135/150 would overpower that boat, and being underpowered is just. . . no fun! |

Picking up 2006 195 tomorrow...
Well, thanks to this site and lots of research, I'm picking up a 2006 195 CC tomorrow. A local dealer had one the he purchased for himself that he sold to me with 27 hours on it. It has the Yamaha injected 4 stroke. He bought it with all the options from Triumph.
I've attached some photos as word docs that show it without the rear seats or any cussions. Once I get it home I'll take some more photos and post them. Like someone else mentioned, the Triumph site lacks the detail we would really like to see. I live east of Sacramento, California and fish the north coast out of Fort Bragg as well as local lakes. I chose the 195 over the 190 because of the extra room for seating up front and we don't do flats fishing. I chose it over the 210/215 because I wanted something smaller to tow (single axle trailer) and lighter weight. It's not a perfect boat for what I wanted, but nothing is. As part of the purchase deal, the delaer is having a custom ski tow bar made that will slip into the rear seat rails so I can tow wake boarders and tubes, (my adult children). Anyway, I'll try to get some photos along the way that will hopefully be useful to others either buying or considering the 195. Helicopper |
