Hey guys!
Here is part of a copy to a reply of a personal note that was sent to me about this very same subject this morning that may help. Now I only installed 1 set (so I am no expert on them and that was early last year) but I am quite sure that Dick at Merritt Marine has seen quite a few installs of them for such effected boats...

From what I remember on the 210 they are located 1 inch over and up on each side from the center line on the stern. 2 of them are needed because the center line has a stainless steel flat bar stock laid in the keel before pouring in the plastic to cook and you can't drill into it.

I remember using a 1 inch wood bit to install the drains and like I said in my post, it took forever to get out all of the water. If I remember correct, I had to wait to a few weeks before I felt the dripping slowed down enough so I could install the drains and allow the RULE sealant to set up correctly. I would make sure the drains you use are of the stainless steel self retaining type. The plastic ones (in my opinion) are too easy to loose. Matter of fact, my new 190 is in the shop right now getting the standard bilge drains upgraded to the self retaining type because I already lost 2 of the black plastic types while driving down the highway.

Now there were no drains put into the mega hatch, but I did use the pratice yellow sponge golf balls to stop up the drain (works well on all the other drains) so water would "not" come forward from the bilge area. Just remember to remove it before it rains or you will have a bath tub! Ha-Ha... Just remember that it was not hard to find that I had a hull full of water by walking around on the floor of the mega hatch area and hearing the water gish (I guess that is spelled correct?) around under my feet.

As far as your new Prop goes, I would just run down to West Marine and pick up a Pro-Pulse model so you can adjust the pitch on the fly to find out which one works out best for your combo. I had one on the 210 and on the 190 and think for the price point, very hard to beat...

Feel free to drop me a personal note with your phone number and I would be more than happy to call if you have any other questions...

WOW Puter,

You have made me forget a tow vehicle!! Now my concern is water in my hull.

Dick can you elaborate on these drains putter talked about?

Mine is an 04 210 and water in the foam scares me.

Help, lead me.

No need to be alarmed Recycle and besides, everybody needs a new truck now and then...

It would not supprise me though either way if you found water in the inner hull if you live (like I do) in an area that gets a lot of rain or found none. A lot of factors have to come into play before one gets it as bad as I had it.

1. Our boat sat outside uncovered 90% of the time.
2. We get a ton of rain in the summer and some of those storms have names which can really make it a mess outside
3. I use to also get a lot of water in battery section of the console on our 03 210 till I drilled a hole in the center (between the 2 battery trays) to allow it to drain into the bilge. That also maybe have been corrected by now in the newer models? But I also washed off any boat I have had after each trip. I'm sorry plastic or not, I just can't stand seeing salt crust form all over my rig. Chauk that up to my training while in the Coast Guard if you must, but that I am sure, also adds to the possiblity of getting water inside the hull from hosing it off all the time. Now I have a custom cover for the 190 so it stays much cleaner and a lot less rain water issues.

Either way it is a simple fix if it does have water inside the hull, and after a period of time it does all drain out. I see no harm in having the water there other than the extra weight till it is removed. If you do find it (remember just walking on the floor in the mega hatch area is the easy way to find such) after you install the drains just run the boat trailer all the way up on the jack, put a jack stand in place to hold up the tongue, then put a block under the jack and run it up some more. Then just rasie your jack stand to hold it that much higher and it will all run out. I keep my boats all setting pretty high bow wise so any water that is in the hull drains out as it is.

Yep, our old one got heavy for sure, but the fix is quite easy and I am sure that Dick can explain the process very nicely once he sees this thread.

I have the same rig that you have. Is your winch pull rated at 2600# like mine. I'm having an issue with the winch pin release bolt bending. Seems like at mininum a 3200# winch should have been installed instead.

go to the logic boats section in forums and there will be a detailed thread for doing the inner hull drain. read all posts as dif. guys have done it at diff measurements. the diminsions i give in the orig. post are the ones as done by merritt marine prior to my purchasing the boatregards. if you get water then it would be advisable to read other threads to see if you can determine where the water is entering the inner hull foam area

I had my dealer (Merritt Marine) do the inner hull drain mod. I wouldn't want to try it myself, but that is just me. I get very little drainage from it, but didn't see how it could hurt. I recommend having your dealer do the mod if at all possible.

Spamsky,

Yes, I have the T2605 model, two speed 2,600 lb. winch. No troubles with it at all. I am not sure which bolt you are referring to but none of mine are bent. I usually pull the boat on the last 3-5 feet each time I load, works like a champ.

If you are talking about the bolt that clamps the winch strap to the arbor, I did add some foam pipe insulation there to smooth out the arbor some and take the sharp edges off so the strap did not fray with age.

We just had the opportunity to have our 2005 Triumph weighed. The “Irresistible” came in at 4,585 pounds with a full tank of fuel, the Yamaha F-150 four stroke, and the Rolls Axle trailer. We calculated the tongue weight at 300 pounds. If you have read our modifications Article, then you know this also includes the radar arch, two Group 31 AGM batteries, electronics, etc. Hope this helps someone.
