mounting outrigger holders

I got a set of outriggers for my 210. I Am pretty clear on the procedure to mount them on the gunnels and how to adequately seal them. However, the stainless steel part that the outrigger poles go into are open bottomed. I am wondering if anyone here has an idea how to close off the bottom so that the foam in the gunnel is not subject to being saturated my water getting in the holders. either making the bottom watertight or riggin them to drain would work.

Hey Dick, Wish I had a answer to your outrigger question, "Are you saying that the mounting base is hollow, and has to be installed through the gunnel"?
I wish I could see them, because I just went through a major rigging job on my rig and I got the scars and scabs to prove it.
We were faced weith all kinds of obstacle's on my 210, and conquered them all through trial and error.

On another note: We will be on Lake Webster for muskys Wednesday the 10th. If your interested let me know!

Willie

outriggers

K9reno, I put outriggerson my 210 along with some other mods.I closed the bottom of the base with dip-it the stuff you use on plier handels and the like 4 or 5 coats sealed it right up. no water can leak into the foam.If you put a small inspection cover below the outrigger mounting spot you can beef up the under side of the gunnel area i used a 1/4" alluminum plate.hope this helps !!!

You might want to install an inspection plate (a.k.a. like the one for the gas fill cap), and then cover the excess part of the rigger that extends below the holder with thin wall PVC. I would then add a drain to the bottom of the PVC that routes the water to a spot just below the inspection plate, and let it drain on the deck. Replace the foam, and replace the cover. I believe that would be the cleanest installation.
BTW is Reno officially retired?
