Tums - Your prop link was really informative. That is why I read all the posts even though I have a 17'. Never know where you will find those nuggets.

Well, this is my first post on this new site. I changed my name from scupking to our boats name (OutOfHear). Any ways we have a 2003 210cc with a Yamaha 150 HPDI. Prop is Yamaha Black Steel Series M 19 13 ¾ 19 with rpms toping out at 5500. Gps reading with 2 200lb people, half a tank of gas was 48mph on a lake no wind. With 5 to 6 people we will be at about 40-45mph depending on conditions.

Prop Selection
WOW, the forum really works, I can not wait for warmer weather so that I can try some of the suggestions. Since we have to use our boat for tripple duty (fishing, family crusin, and tubing) I have been on the look out for the best prop. I have noticed in tight turns and heavy seas the prop has a tendicy to ventilate, but i am using a susuki sst prop, my boat came with the factory 17in pitch and the motor was mounted one notch up. I had a fair amount of slipage even though the test report for my 200hp yamaha said this is the ideal set-up. So I have lowered the motor to the bottom hole.
As soon as the weather breaks i will try to get a 19in 4 blade with a fair amount of rake. Barry

Merc 150
Well, I've replaced my faulty tach and taken my new prop out a few times. I'm running a 15 pitch Mich Wheel stainless Rapture 3-blade on a Merc 150 carb mounted all the way down on a 2003 210CC. With a very light load and smooth water, I'm hitting 42 at 5400 rpms (range recommended for the Merc is 5000-5500 or 5100-5600 - got conflicting info). Anyway, the 15 seems like a small pitch to run, but I wasn't going any faster with a 17 pitch (got less rpms) and at least now it seems like the boat will do close to the same top speed of 42 even with a very full load.
I'll just be disappointed if I later find out I'm carrying a bunch of water and will be overpropped once I lose the water...uggh... Anyway, geez, it looks like those HPDI's must have a lot more torque than my plain Merc ! Seeing some nice top speeds posted for the 150 HPDI's... |

I tell you what we were surprised to see those top speeds out of a 150hp motor. We love are Yamaha 150 HPDI. When we bought are boat back in October of 2003 Brad Reeves (President of Reeves Marine) was very helpful. He took the boat out him self to test it and see which prop was best. The prop that was on it was a 17pitch he said he didn't like the performence so he went to a 13 and 3/4 by 19 sst prop and that is what we got with it. He tralered the boat all the way from LA to CT to bring us our new boat. Every body that we take on it is like wow this has some power to it. If your not sitting down when I punch the throtle then you better be holding on tight. All I have to say is every time we go out on her, we are all impresed on how she runs.

I have a t-top. I also have a bow dodger but my numbers are with the dodger down. Regarding factory curtains, I have the front one up all the time (lost one of the sides and the other one no longer fits, and never had back curtains - and the front one is always up because I had to cut the windshield down to access my battery....
it's a long story and has to do with 2 replaced hulls...).
