Randy,
The Chaos really looks good with those black side curtains. Ditto on the console.

Very nice! The black looks great against the hull color.

Thumbs up

I was hoping to get the boat in the water this week but I've got to have back surgery on Monday and it isn't quite finished. Many thanks though to Chad Merritt for sending me photos of his excellent handiwork. I couldn't wait till I got the boat so I thought I'd post them as an update.

Chad did an incredible job in mounting the electronics on a piece of Roplene that will slide into the console. When finished fishing I can disconnect and remove them all at once. I can't wait to get the Furuno fish finder, GPS, Radar and NavPilot programs up and running. We also moved the Sirrus antenna on top of the t-top for better reception based on input from others on the site that weren't getting as good a signal on the console. I used the Radar mount and the 8' digital VHF antenna (black) as suggested by OspreyVic. They were mounted in such a way as to not interfere with the Tapco Outrigger operation.

I'll do a special article on the electronics I chose and how they were mounted in a couple months after I get the boat, recover from surgery and have the time to do so. I can't wait to fish with this boat!

Great looking set up for sure Brother

I do though have a question about the displays (great idea) though... It "appears" from the pictures that they are a little flat and very close 90 degrees from the console. Is that not going to present some issues in seeing them OR can you pitch it back and change the viewing angle some?

Just wondering

Awesome, I'm hoping for the same experience somewhere around the 1st of June.

I was concerned about the same thing but that is the only angle we could get to work with the size of the console and be able to close/lock it. We looked at installing an electronics box up top but they would be tight in there too and we felt the viewing would be more comfortable in the console. From a seated position on the leaning post the viewing angle will be fine. I'll have to use them to know for sure but I'm just thrilled to have them. I did not want to lose the ability to close the console although that would have solved the problem.

Glad to hear about your new boat Randy... I have only had my 17 footer for about 6 months now and am aleady dreaming of "Movin on up."

Thanks Dave. I'm looking forward to some great fishing time with my sons on this boat! Finding time is always the challenge. And silly me, I keep having new ideas for websites and stuff that keep me away from fishing. As an aside I'll be making an announcement in a few days about a new national fishing website I'm building. I think it will be pretty cool.

Now I would think that the tallest position for them in the box would be straight up So in theory, you should be able to tilt them backwards some to change the viewing angle (maybe install some angled feet to the back of the mounting board) and still be to both view them when standing, and still be able to lock the box

You know me my friend, always looking for ways to improve and streamline the system, and that is why I get so little sleep! Ha-Ha...
