175 hp E-Tec on 215 CC

Hi folks! I am about to purchase a 2006 215 CC and I would like to use a 175 E-Tec on it. Has any one of you have experience with this motor on this boat? I`ll appreciate your comments on the practical data such as size of ss impeller.speed and gas mileage.Thinking the 175 may be more economical than the 150 hp because it will run at a lower rpm. I am not looking for high speed but for intermediate performance. Will I get any problem in this motor if I use gasoline with alcohol? Why is the manufacturer saying that if you use the Evinrude oil it will consume much less of it than if you use other brand. Is there a way to control the rate of oil consumption in it?
I like very much the E-Tec because of the excelent new thecnology it has.I also like very much the F150 Yamaha.Any comments on practical experience and or based on thecnical knowledge are welcome.
Truly this site is a great one thanks to your involvement ,and the Triumph boats are also Great Boats ,you have to live the experience to understand it.
Thanks and regards to all.Cèsar Catani

Hi I also bought a Triumph 215cc with the 175 E-Tec Engine. My boat will go in production on May 1st, and I will be able to pick up the boat in the second week in May, if you get your boat sooner let me know how you like it. After watching the DVD that they had on the E-tec on how much better it was than as 4 stroke motor I was convinced they had me hooked. (DID YOU SEE THE DVD)

I am sure a lot of us would like to hear how your E-Techs work out. I have read some test articles and they sound like good motors. Your burn rate and speed would be of interest to me. Keep us all posted, will you.

Hi Cesar they are building my boat this week it just came out of the mold yesterday. And it takes about 5 to 7 days to complete it. Looks like I will have it on the 13th of May or sooner I will let you know how the E-TEC works.

My boat was supposed to be "hatched" this week as well. How did you find out that you boat was made on Monday? I'd like to know the "hatch" date of my boat so that we can hold an annual, "out of the mold" party aboard.

If everything goes OK, I should be hooked up to the trailer and installing goodies by the 22nd. In fact, if so, I can feel an illness coming on. I just may have to call in to work that day! The "illness" AKA "boatitis" may last more than one day!

Hi Jerry just checking in All you got to do is call the factory and talk to service, and they can tell you when your boat will be born. They are nice people over there and they can help you the person over there that was the most helpful is Brian. Can't wait to get her. What kind of power did you go with?

Don't Call Triumph

I tried calling Triumph this morning, asked for Brian and ran into a very short spoken operator. I was informed that the manufacture dates of boats is confidential and that if I had any questions I was to call my dealer and NOT to call Triumph.

Obviously some people at the factory need some sensitivity training, not to mention lessons in salesmanship.

Surprised that the phone selection only had the company directory and operator. Nothing for customer relations or questions about Triumph boats. If the person I spoke to is the regular operator, they've lost some sales because of their poor phone stratagy.

Another try and another failure

I tried writing Triumph via e-mail to find out about the boat's progress, figuring I might be able to bypass the curt operator. I wrote this morning and received the following reply from Bryant.

SORRY BUT I WILL HAVE TO ASK YOU TO PLEASE CONTACT YOUR DEALER SO YOU
CAN FIND OUT THIS INFO. WE DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE HE HAS ORDERED TO FILL
YOUR ORDER SORRY.

It looks like the factory people don't want to be bothered by customers!
