Question Suzuki DF 140?

Just got a call from our local dealer and he said that the only 215 he had left was rigged with a DF 140. Wondering what you guys thought about having a 140 compared to the 150.

JD Powers #1 rated motor (tied with Honda). Great gas mileage for long runs (or short considering gas prices lately). Good power to wt ratio but would not go under 140 for that sized boat. If you go up...think 175.

Mark, I am with Molarboater. I have the DF140 on my 210. Great motor so far, easy on fuel, enough power for my needs. If I had it to do over again though, and had the choice of a 150 or 175 for the same weight, I would go for the 175. Others have talked about the advantages and disadvantages. I would rather have the extra power in case needed and the 175 will work less hard to push you along, therefore likely using the same fuel in the cruising rpm range. I know the 175 costs more but again, you never know when the extra power will save your butt. Just my 2 cents on that. My guess is it will be worth more at resale also. I just wish I had had the same dilema two years ago when I bought mine. Next step up then was the 250 and it weighed too much.

i bought an '01 210 hull and powered it with a 140 johnson df which is the same engine.
for protected water and inshore it is fine . however, we have a top 5 worst inlet to go out of here and there are times i would prefer to have a 175 e tec to push me thru the rough stuff. i have to set my propulse prop to a smaller pitch to get 'er revved up to punch thru that inlet and then set it higher if i am in less hostile stuff. i doubt i will ever use it enough to ever need major repair work done on it ,but i cringe to think how much it is going to hurt to have that engine worked on compared to a 2 banger.
just my $.25--inflation you know!!!

before you guys bought your boat did you have to get a a driveway poured for the boat, and if you did how much did it cost because we got a quote from the local company that was 4700 dollars. I don't think that is really expensive but I want to know your opinions.

Mark, get multiple bids for the driveway. Right now is a BAD time to have construction work done, at least in California. Everyone's overworked as it is. The bids are high since they don't need the extra work and can cherrypick the high bids.

If you're not getting your boat right away, a good time for small project construction is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Lots of guys are looking for "side jobs" to pick up Christmas cash.
