freshwater washdown

Has anyone considered or actually installed a fresh water washdown on their 210/215? I really think it would be nice to have a 5-10 gallon tank and it shouldn't be a problem finding the space. Looking for any feedback/or ideas on a possible setup. thanks

5 to 10 gallomns is really not alot, when it comes down to a cleaning, now if that was attached to the trailer, it would be okay for the wheels and brakes. I personally carry a 3 gallon mix of salt a way to spray on my trailer and any other surface I deem that needs to be salt free.

Has anyone got any ideas for portable quick flush on the engine? I have a Yamaha with the flush attachment. I know that some guys (such as you Genelie) use hudson sprayers or old fire extinguishers (the kind we used to soak pedestrians with when I was a kid) to do a quick rinse on their boats, but, I'm not sure how to rig this up for a motor flush. Problem is I live in Vegas but travel to San Diego to fish occasionally. San Diego does not allow wash down at any of the launch ramps. Leaving that salt water in for a 6+ hour drive back to Vegas in 115 degree heat is not something I like to do. And, I'm trying to avoid the uncomfortable discussion when I pull into the back of a gas station and hook up to their hose bibb. Any ideas?

I’ve never tried it but I would think a 35gal plastic barrel from Home Depot with a short maybe 2’ hose attached would feed thru the motor and as you don’t run the motor on the Yamahas when you use the flush port there won’t be any danger if it runs thru slowly. I think I’d raise the barrel as high as was practical maybe on a milk crate on the rear seat connect the hose and let gravity do it’s thing. If you added some of that Salt Away it would only increase its effectiveness. I think it might be worth a try.

Thanks Calicokid. Not sure I'd want to deal with a large barrel, but, now you've got me thinking. I never considered just gravity feed. A large funnel with a short hose and a male hose connection could work. Just keep dumping one gallon jugs of water through (that's what kids are for, to keep filling 'em). Maybe even a five gallon bucket on the ground with a bellows bilge pump and a hose connection.

Thanks again, sometimes it just takes someone to bounce ideas off of. Anything would beat making salt crystals on a long hot drive.

I would think that their must be a self car wash or 2 on your trip back and forth Just unscrew the flush port and send some high pressure soap mix into the engine. Then when done before you run out of your first time limit of quarters, just finish rinsing off the engine and trailer before going home
