Unhappy 210: Holes in my hull?????????????

Hi guys,

I had a surprise this afternoon when I crawled under my boat to check some wires. It was the first time in the two years I have the boat that I checked the bottom. Long story short it appears that some holes were drilled in my hull and then patched. I know it sounds wired but I am not kidding. They are the size of a 5/16 or 11/32 drill bit. So before I bring the boat to the dealer where I bought it new to ask for some explanations I just want to make sure that this is not the result of the manufacturing process. One of the hole seems to have been patched with Rule. It is soft and flexible when pushed with a finger. I noticed that one because water was dripping from it. There appears to be several others, all pretty close to the centerline. I will try to take so pics in case that can help. Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks,

While I have the 190 I don't believe there should be any holes in your hull
accept for the thru-hull for your high speed pickup. THe only explanation
would be if draining massive amount of water quickly from the inner hull .
Any hole the factory put in would be repaired by welding not rule.

Patrick ask Dick at Merritt I talked with him last week about the same thing. Only my holes were in the deck. He said they were vents to help the hull cure during manufacturing. But I agree with Steve if they did this to the hull it should have been welded. I live in Berkley, MA just outside of Taunton. Maybe we can can get together for some fishing sometime.

PAX,

I am sure there should be no holes in your hull that were not welded shut with roplene. If you have one that is soft and leaking water, then there is a problem. I would bet your dealer will agree.

If you have a drip from that hole then you most certainly have water retention in the inner hull also. This needs to be addressed with your dealer also. If you have questions, search this site for inner hull drains. There are several threads about that, with solutions for the problem. The inner hull drain is a end user fix. The only questions about them have to do with voiding the hull warranty. That does not seem to be a problem either but you should check with your dealer on that. Roplene welding of the hole will fix it for sure.

Dick at Merritt Marine can advise you if you have questions.

Good luck.

Thanks guys. I called my dealer and they will take care of it for free. It will not void the warranty. I will keep you posted.
