Do you fit your boat
Hi Captains and Mates. I have been a member sinces I got my 2006 215 in December of last year but this is my first post.
I really love my boat but I wasen't ever comfortable setting at the helm running the boat. My feet would not touch the deck or the molded foot rest built into the console while setting back in the drivers set. The steering wheel was to far away to reach while setting back in the set so I was aways setting on the front edge of the seat so that I could reach the stearing wheel and my feet still would not touch the deck. By the end of a day of running and fishing my back would be hurting and the back of my legs would be burning from setting on the edge of the seat. Even with the leaning post installed it wasen't any better because there wasent enough room between the post and the steering wheel. Now I am six feet tall and it was bad on me but my wife is only 4 feet 11 inches tall and it was killing her. My buddy runs a Triumph boat sales in Southport, NC and I spend a lot of time there. The new 2007 Triumphs started comeing in and while we where unloading them I noteiced that the 2007 215 had a fold down foot rest on the console so I had to check it out. I got in the drivers seat and folded the foot rest down and found that this was so much better and much more comfortable. I also noticed that the steering wheel seemed to be higher-up and closer to me than my boats stearing wheel but it was the same wheel as mine. I started looking at the differance and this is what I found. Triumph added the fold down foot rest that helped a lot but they also lowered the seats 3 1/2" by cutting the seat post down. Lowering the seats puts the steering wheel higher and puts your knees under the steering wheel while setting. I called Triumph and ordered a fold down foot rest. Installed it and cut my set post down 3 1/2". The wife and I took the boat out yesterday and ran off shore 25 miles, King fished for 5 hours and ran back. We spent 8+ hours on the boat and you would not belive the differance it made. We where so much more comfortable I could not belive it. It is a totality different boat. It was always a great boat but now it is a great comfortable boat. I don't know if you are having the same problem that I had but if you are try this quick fix. Hope it helps. Bob. |

OspreyViv, The pictures is not a problem. Getting them on a post could be.
What do you need pictures of? The new foot rest is the only thing that is new. The post that the seats are mounted on you already have. I removed the post from the top of the bait well and removed 3 1/2" from them. I used roto tool with a cut-off wheel to cut them off. I messured the slot that is in the seat post that is for the seat swivel pull knob. 1 1/4" and 2 1/4" down from the top of the post and 5/16" wide. I used a 5/16" drill bit to drill most of the slot out. I used a rat tail and a flat file to dress out the slots. Just make sure that you make the slots in the same place that the where. Most of the seat swivel pull knobs are rusted and won't move so this step may not be needed anyway. But like I said I will take pictures and I will try to post them. All I have to do is learn how to do it. After reading the mods that you did on your boat I am sure that you won't have any problems making this mod. Good Luck, Bob |

Genelie, I got the foot rest through my buddys boat sales business at his cost. The foot rest will cost somewhere around $150.00 + shipping. Call your Triumph dealer and have them quote you a price. To me it was worth every penny just for the comfort differance it made in my boat.
I will take some pictures today and try posting them. NCangler thanks for the link im sure that it will help. Bob. |

Here are the pictures that you guys wanted. I hope they help. In the Photo Gallery I included some short descriptions of each picture. I havent figured out how to insert them onto a post yet. One thing at a time.
Photo#1- Post with 3 1/2" cut off and new slot. Cut off section is on top of post. Photo#2- Seat installed onto shorter post. Photo#3- New foot rest installed. Only 4 screws on each side holds it in place. Photo#4- A closer look at the foot rest mounting bracket. Photo#5- A look from behind of the lower seats and the new foot rest. |

Thanks for the pictures. Now I can better explain to the Admiral your modifications. It looks like a GREAT solution.

really nice, I Think I need to re design my area down there, like the newer models. I like the battery switch there and I asume a tackle storage area.
