C Firth,
congrats on the boat, post a few photos for us to check it out. I have the same boat so I'd be happy to share any mods I've done.

As for the reg # this what I use, and only one has come off, but nothing since going on 3 years....The tags you receive from the DMV, well go down to your local hardware store, go where they display #'s and Letter stickers. Pick the ones that have the reflective background with the letters / numbers..they are rectangle. they have the same glue stuff as the Tags you get from DMV...I did not use the primer prep stuff, nor that speacial glue you get from your dealer. My #'s are located under the rubber trim, so you know they get hit with water all the time.......WORKS GREAT>!!!

Cool registration numbers

Thanks for the info...the last owner screwed a plastic strip on the bow,I think he got it from boaters world, anyway that seems to work fine but it has bowed a little from the sun,and i thought about replacing it, will that rule elastic sealant work on the numbers?

This is per the Triumph site...

Q. How do I get my registration numbers to stick to my boat?

A. 3M makes a product called 94 Primer that should be wiped onto the area where decals will be applied and allowed to evaporate before applying the decal.

if you pass the flame from a propane torch over the surface for just a couple seconds to break the glaze on the surface before the 94 primer it works great. none of my numbers or words have come off. just keep the primer away from the flame

I had my numbers custom made at a sign shop. They used a 3M reflactive material and they stuck very good w/o any of the primer. No peeling yet after one full year of heavy use.

no problem with my numbers yet either, put on last year. I just cleaned the surface real good then heated with a torch (briefly not til it discolors, but enough to just dull it), then apply the numbers and reg tag. Seemed to work fine.
