How skinny have you had your 210/215?

I fish my 170 DC in less than 10 inches of water, with engine up and using the trolling motor and/or drifting on the flats it's unreal how shallow she'll fish, I love that $h#@!! Saturday I took my son out and we slayed the redfish in skinny water. I'm just now getting to like this shallow water stuff. Back in San Diego I would have never imagined fishing in inches of water but now I'm getting into flats fishing. My problem is that the 170 is too small and if I'm gonna upgrade I want as much room as I can get thats why I'm still debating about a 215 or maybe even the new 235. The stats on the 215 say it'll draft in 12 inches of water, how shallow have you guys been in your boat? I know there are some cobia chasers out there, have you guys tested how shallow you can get?

I'd hate to buy another brand and have to deal with gel coat cracking and fading. The 19 foot triumph bay boat won't be big enough, so it's a 215 or another brand (bay boat). I'm hoping the 215 can fish pretty shallow.

Thanks!!

I tried in vain to make a "big water" flats boat out of our old 210 and though I could get her in about 15 inches of water and slow motor in about 20 (still not shallow enough)... I cheated though in how I made it work that skinny

The 190 is much better suited to such work since it has a much larger front casting deck and better provision for a front mounted trolling motor. The 195 "would" had made for a much better all around hull IF Triumph had made it with either a tunnel or pocket drive stern like the 190 has, this so you can use a shorter shaft engine.

1st step though on any boat to be used for such work is to ditch the bow rail. And with the 195's larger forward deck, it holds a stronger second place to the 190 for that kind of work over the 210 or 215. The 210 /215 though is a much better and faster offshore rig, and some times you just have to use the right tool for the right job

I got off course one time going out a channel and idled through about 14 inches of water. easier to move around in 2 ft though.

190 will do the deed quite nicely. 24 volt not <65 lb thrust auto pilot powerdrive minnkota with factory mounting plate ---and just add water(and one of them no no jack plates)

My skeg provides evidence that the 210 won't get as skinny as you're wanting. Anytime I get in less than 2 ft, I'm looking for a way to deeper water. Plus, without a long shaft trolling motor, or a stern drive trolling motor, it may be a little difficult to pole a 210. Tilting the engine and trying to maneuver around will spook fish. I've adapted to working the shallow water by drifting areas that I'm confident I won't be scraping bottom.

Went out this past weekend in Tampa Bay to do a little fishing and cruising. We didn't find any Spanish Macs in the bay so I decided to try drifting the grass flats for trout (like I did with the 170) well I am pleased to say that I was able to drift the flats good enough to catch a bunch of trout! We even drifted in less than 2' at times. The wind was pushing us out from the shallows so I would motor in as close as possible and let the wind push us back out. Who knows, a power pole and trolling motor may be future mods. Not the 7 inches I've fished with the 170 but the 215 is proving to be a great all around boat!!!
