Hi Genelie, we have Raymarine equipment. The C120 is our primary GPS with radar overlay.

We have the Raymarine Pathfinder Smart Heading Sensor with the Gyro Stabilized fluxgate compass system. This unit is strongly recommended by Raymarine if you are going to overlay the GPS chartplotter with the Pathfinder Plus radar image.

We purchased our radar mount from East Shore Marine, LLC, which is located in Naples, FL. Their web site is http://www.eastshoremarine.com . They designed a custom forward leaning radar mount with anchor light and GPS antenna mount. The anchor light and GPS antenna mount was positioned to limit any interference with the radar and they had to be away from the motor when the radar arch was lowered. They built and delivered a truly custom mount and they were a pleasure to work with.

We mounted the Raystar 125 GPS Sensor to the radar mount and added the new electrical wire needed for the anchor light on the radar mount. We installed the 24" Pathfinder 4kW Radome Antenna to the mount.

There is a lot of good equipment out there. We chose Ray, but there are others with Radar equipment that is probably just as good as the Raymarine. We are happy with our choice. We also believe that for many weather conditions, any radar is better than no radar.

How big is the screen on the 1724c....I know it is capable of hooking up gps and I believe sounder as well...and that it is a color unit.

ospreyVic... I like the Idea of the custom mount...never thought that a gps anttenna could interfer with the radar....My T-top did not come with plates for mounting the dome..I need to have that installed...which will be a pain, due that I have to remove the canvas, and radio ant plus gps ant...such a pain.

Genelie, sometimes the more you dig the deeper you get. Usually better to get the information before you do the work than after the work is complete. Re-doing a job is just no fun. Keep digging my friend.

No, no, no, please don't take off your canvas, there's no need. All you need is a couple of stainless steel plates and some u-bolts.Just a few holes through the canvas where the bolts go through, but way less of a pian and very much efficient.

Thanks, I saw Osprey Vic pictures of his set of the radar mount...he used just what you said, a couple plates and looks like he used a u-bolt to hold together.
