Hey Jan If we waited for anything less than 6 ft we would never get to take our boats out. The wind off Humboldt Bay is always 10 to 15 kts. I am not trying to talk bad about the guys back east but if I had a 210 or a 215 I would think that 10 to 13 ft would not be that bad. Here is the report for the week and I would go out about every day. I would consider this a calm (nice) week.
.TODAY...VARIABLE WIND 5 TO 10 KT. WIND WAVES 2 FT OR LESS. W SWELL 6 TO 7 FT AT 12 SECONDS. .TONIGHT...SE WIND 5 KT...BECOMING NE AFTER MIDNIGHT. WIND WAVES 2 FT OR LESS. W SWELL 6 FT AT 12 SECONDS. .MON...E WIND 5 KT...BECOMING S IN THE AFTERNOON. WIND WAVES 2 FT OR LESS. W SWELL 6 TO 7 FT AT 12 SECONDS. .MON NIGHT...S WIND 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 4 FT. SW SWELL 5 TO 7 FT. .TUE...S WIND 15 TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 5 FT. SW SWELL 5 TO 7 FT. SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN...THEN CHANCE OF RAIN. .WED...SE WIND 15 TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 4 FT...BUILDING TO 5 TO 7 FT. SW SWELL 7 FT...BECOMING W 6 FT AND SW 3 FT. CHANCE OF RAIN. .THU...S WIND 15 TO 20 KT...EASING TO 10 TO 15 KT. Went in to help a stranded boat that hit breakers during a squall with 5-7 foot white caps. Interval was when the bow hit, it went straight up again at 6mph. I crashed into their boat, they jumped, and I left again. I had the time of my life for sure, and a slight scuff that I'm proud of. Wish I had a camera.
