07' 215 CC Bait Well
I have purchased the new 2007 215 CC at the end of last season and look forward to using it this upcoming season which is rapidly approaching. However during my brief use last year I noticed that when traveling underway the baitwell hatch allows the water to splash out. I was wondering if anyone has any tips to keep that under control or to a minimum at least. Thanks for all and any help.

You should have a plasitc valve on the water inlet pipe inside the bait well at the bottom. If the valve is all the way open you need to pinch back on it a little. This will regulate and slow the incoming water flow and it should stop overflowing. Some times the pump will put more water in the bait well that it can overflow while underway. If this does not work you need to check the overflow system on the bait well and make sure that it does not have any restrictions. Hope this helps, Bob

Djdecuollo, I do have a few suggestions.
First, try the “Search” tab at the top of the page using the words “bait well” and then try “live well”. Might also try the word “timer”. We followed the suggestion of Dick at Merritt Marine in post: Baitwell Top and Bottom. and closed the cut off valve about half way. We also modified the way water enters the tank by adding the pvc pipe shown in the picture below and described by CalicoKid in the following post. We drilled holes in the top of the PVC pipe that parallels the baitwell top. This should help add more air to the water. Livewell overflow We also replaced the standard switch with bait well on-off switch with a variable Levewell Timer from BoatersWorld. The water does NOT have to run all the time. Depending on how you set things up, will determine your setting on the timer. On ours, we fill the tank on “Max” then cut it back to where it is about 1/3 on. Big Foot Minute Man 2 Variable Livewell Timer Mfr # BF-LWS-V Our Stock # 478707276 $39.99 So we made three changes: closed valve part way, changed how water enters the compartment, and added the timer. We did this to our 2005 210CC, so your boat may be different. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem and I did what rudderhinge said and closed the black inlet valve about half-way. Then I had my pump motor fail and when it was replaced we installed a 500 gph motor instead of the 700 gph. I haven't had that problem again so far.
BTW- Closing the valve had nothing to do with the motor failing, when the failed motor was removed it had seaweed wrapped around the shaft. |
