04 210 Vs. 07 215

I've been looking at buying a new 195CC, but have tossed around the
idea of looking for a used Triumph. Today I found 2004 21' with low
engine hours close by, and was wondering if there are any issues with that
year I should be aware? From what I've seen, the 2006's and 2007's seem
to be pretty solid and have very few inherent bugs. I was hoping the
2004's would be the same way. I've heard that when the boats were the
"Logic" brand, they weren't quite up to the standards they are today.
I'm not sure where the 2004's fit in.

it is my understanding that the basic hull on the 210 has not changed except for a couple of small points from the orig. logic hull. however, there have been tremendous fit and finish improvements as well as a couple of snafus as some of us owners would believe on each succeeding year.
my rule of thumb would be that unlike a glass boat that is what most people would be concerned as to its general condition, with a triumph you dont need to worry about the boat as much as to what condition the motor and trailer are in.
if you are a hands on kind of owner ,you can get an older model and do the upgrades yourself and in essence have a new boat as to features w/o having to pay for a new boat to get those features. in '04 i bought an '01 dealer demo q2 210 cc hull sitting on tires and had a new motor and trailer put on it and saved a bunch of money over the price of a new 04 rigged the same way. i have since made all the upgrades and i feel it is just as good an outfit as what the dealer was selling new. plus my dealer has worked with me to help make the improvements and advised how to do many things myself.

Easy on the Logic folk, some of us are quite happy. I bought a 2000 210, with less than 30 hrs, and kept indoors for her whole life for 15k, she had some neet things on her, but pretty much as she was the day she was bought, and had never seen anything but fresh water.
After blowing up my trucks tranmission going to Minnesota to retrieve our new boat, then having to trade in my truck for a newer and much more expensive model, I drove her home.
I have upgraded the boat to what would be a new 210, at just over half the cost.
The truck trade in on the road hurt, but it makes for a great story.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

I have the '04 210 and I've been very happy with it. No second thoughts on it or buyers remorse. No issues with the boat at all. I've made a couple modifications to it (transom drain and clear splashwell access plates), but nothing besides those. Structurally, it's solid with the exception of a couple of screws backing out, but other boat brands have their warts as well. I take it out 20-30 miles in the Gulf and it holds up well. Good luck with your decision and get 'er wet.

I'm with all the others. I love my '04 210. The only reason to get rid of it would be to upgrade in size. I have made several modifications to rid the hull of the slight nits they have. Since installing the rear fish box drains I now think I have it dialed in. If you think you have a good deal available, I would advise to think it over real hard. The 210 is a great boat and even greater if you get a great price!

The go to guy on that subject is Jergofish. He has done the bow mount and it looks great. Do a search for "trolling motor" and you should find it.

Tallman,
I bought a used 210, that had a 36v trolling motor on the bow, great system but deep v hulls dont like slow spead, steering is tough, imagine trying to keep her straight at 1-2kts, with wind and current. I tried it with the motor straight, and out of the water, no luck. I bagged the system and live on the drift, or hook, but still have the open rail on the bow to honor the old pinpoint system.
good luck

lineage breakdown

Is there a thread here explaining the differences between the different generations of Logic and Triumph 21', how to tell them apart and what are the major changes that were made. For example is there a full inventory of upgrades that Illogical made to bring his older hull up to the later spec'd versions? There is no way I will be able to afford to buy a new one, but it is not to hard to find some that are 3-7 years old at very affordable prices, and since the hulls are indestructable they are all a good buy in my mind, not counting motor trailer of course.

Moderator, any way to sticky this kind of information as many would probably be interested in these points as the years go on and more and more used Roplene boats hit the market.

Thank you very much.

Dusty
