Suzuki 140 Engine Hour Meter

Dick:

Hope you enjoyed your cruise!

I have a Suzuki 140 FS on a 210CC and I'd like to install an hour meter and run it off the tachometer. I heard somewhere that the purple wire is the hot wire. That purple wire is going into a connector that plugs into the back of the tach. If this is the hotwire, can I tie into it before the connector without harming anything?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, the purple wire is the ignition wire and should be swiched by the Key. The grey wire is the sending wire that runs the Tac. I would test the purple with a test light, just to be sure, you never know with boats!
