sounds like the fiberglass dealers are getting to your head

tuna b

i bought my first "bucket of plastic" in '01! it was a 186 logic and the only reason i got rid of it was because it wasnt quite big enough to handle the rough water . sold it last spring and turned around and bought an '01 210cc and put a new 04 johnson 140 4 banger on it.
the local fiberglass boat dealer here where i get parts and accessories has constantly belittled my decision to buy these boats. the "bucket of plastic" was one of their favorite jabs, as well as saying i couldnt bring for service until i installed a tent in their yard to put the boat under so it wouldnt melt, to talking trash about seeing triumphs on the water flexing and saying they were losing contact with the water--on and on and on. however, they have yet to take me up on my offer to let them hit my boat 10 times with a ball bat i bring to the dealership for my 1 whack at one of their Fountains they are so proud of!!!!!
you will need to adopt a certain indeferrance to fiberglass owners/dealers by blowing by them when their knees are slamming out from under them as you sit comfortably in your captain's chair and leave 'em in your wake!!!
that's why this group of guys are the best boating friends you will ever meet, cause we've been there and not only done it ,but heard it all as well.
enjoy your boat ,thank your lucky stars you'll never come up scrapped and cut to pieces the first time you have to work in the bilge or any where under the deck.

Tunabboy,
we all don't run 4 strokes. I'd say it's an even split. I haven't heard any bad things about those new Evinrudes yet and think the concept sounds pretty awesome. supposedly don't even have to winterize them! I run a 200 yamaha hpdi, this is a 2 stroke, but much more efficient than past 2 strokes. however not as efficient as a 4 stroke. but I love it, it's quick, powerful, quiet(not quite as a 4 stroke though), and doesn't smoke. also very expensive, but they all are nowadays.

Dealers

As far as dealers go i checked out Johnson Marine in Ontario. Good guys limited stock of boats though. I just bought mine from AA Marine in Vista.
They have at least a dozen last time I checked. All trims and types.
