A screw loose!

OK here is the minor issue that I am having. The screws holding down the front floor mounts for T-top keep coming loose. The first time I didnt think anything about it and just retighted. However, the next time I thought I would increase the size of the screw. Upon removing one, I noted that it is a machine screw. This was puzzling to me since there are no access plates in the forward fish boxes. So i decided to add two additional ss wood screws to one side as a test, in doing so I hit what appears to be a SS plate. So my question is, did Triumph install mounting plates for the T-tops whereby you drill and tap it for mounting or was the t-top installed incorrectly? For the record my T-top was factory installed but was savaged off of my 2001 Logic.

I know the quick fix would be to put access plates in and dig some foam out, but I really dont like modifying the inner hull, as this one is dry tight.

thanks
Piledriver

That is ok, it makes sense, I guess I will tap them out to the next size up and use some lock tight this weekend, as the Seas are forecasted to be crappy this coming weekend so I doubt I will be offshore.
