Piledriver,
I share your frustration with this problem. The port side seat box does drain into the bilge, through one of the tiny tubes, like what they use in the fish boxes. NCAngler is asking the factory if they can't do something about this issue. My idea is make a tighter fitting cover and put the inspection plates in so owners can remove the water, if it still accumulates. And it will, likely because the transom area does flex some. Lets hope they listen to us on this one. Codfish |

Guys,
I should have an answer to announce in a week or so on this. The good folks at the Triumph factory definitely listened and they have a fix for it and I believe everyone will be happy with this solution. I will announce it as soon as I get the details, so please be patient with me. If you're planning to work on your 210/215 splash wells, hold off a couple weeks. You'll be glad you did. ![]()

Thanks for the update, as since it is amatuer weekend and the wave forecast sucks for offshore I was going to haul mine out of the water and redo them! Guess I can spend my weekend catching Hardheads from the deck lol

In case you haven't read other posts on this, Triumph's solution to this problem is to build the boat like mine. Well, mine is an 7/05 model and has the new floats that are plastic and closely fit the transom well. The lid still allows water to get in but not nearly as much as having nothing. The problem is still there however. Read up on Transom Well modification and see the pictures from the improved version. Yuk!
I hope the 235 doesn't have this problem. When I get the courage, I will pull one and take a picture of it and post. |

Well I guess everyone won't be happy with it then. I haven't seen the splash well problem on my 2006 215 yet, so I'm thinking that the plastic inserts work. But if you don't want that solution maybe you should try the lid inserts so you can periodically vacuum out any water. I did that modification on my 2003 210 and I was pretty satisfied with how it worked. If those two solutions don't satisfy, got any other ideas?
Maybe I missed something...where are pictures of the new improved version? The only photos I've seen posted are the pre-June 2005 splash wells.

I did post this earlier but, why couldnt there be a drain place into the bilge area, just as found in the two aft seat compartments?
Second option, since they fill with water anyways way not just let them and have a large thru hull to let them drain out when we take off on a plane? Third option, move the thru hulls so that they are are on the port and starboard sides in front of the aft seats. The seal up the current scupper openings. this doesnt really help water in the splash wells but will prevent water from coming into the cockpit |

NCangler,
I posted pictures of my wells on Transom Well Modification. There are three of them. Piledriver, The bottom of my wells are several inches below the floor of the Bilge. If Triumph could bring the well bottom up above the floor with drains going into the bilge, problem solved. Also, lowering the scuppers at the back of the transom 1" would help, I think, but there must be some engineering responsible for that. Mine leak a bit and may be responsible for the water problem I'm dealing with anyway. I think the best option, for me, is adding well maintanence into boat maintenance and vacuming the water out. I plan on leaving the plastic floats in with just enough screws to hold the lid down and clean the water out. |
