Stainless locking gas cap for 2004 C/C

Hi Guys,

I've tried doing a Google search but cannot find the locking cap I need for our new boat. If anyone has a link or any info I would appreciate it.

BTW, love the boat. It gives a great, soft ride in choppy conditions. My other boat is a 17.5 Seaswirl C/C, but it's a very wet boat. Quite a difference.

Thanks in advance,

Tony

BTW, I contacted the manufacture about this and they came up with the great suggestion that I contact West Marine or Boat US as if I was too dumb to do that on my own. Bad customer service IMO.

I would take the cap to either a large auto parts or NAPA store in your area OR maybe a Tractor Parts Supply store. Maybe they can match one up for you and if so, make sure you post the part number

Let us know your resutls!

Thanks Putershark

I finally managed to contact Perko and they gave me a part number
(525DP0BLK) for a locking device that can be used to lock your gas tank.

It's not even in their catalog yet.

I contacted West Marine but since the part number was not in their on-line catalog they cound not order one, BUT, they gave me a phone number where one can be ordered, 1-800-boating.

I called and ordered one and is should arrive this coming Tuesday. Total cost $29.07 including shipping.

Not a bad price for a litle piece of mind.

Is it a new cap or an add on gizmo???
I just noticed you’re in So. Cal. Welcome. I’ve seen a few of these boats up here L.A. - Ventura, I think Triumphs are well suited to our style fishing. The bait tank is adequate and the hull material makes boiler rock fishing safer, not that Ill take more chances just in the event of a slip up I feel the consequences would be less dramatic. And I think the lack of vibration thru the hull = more WSB !!!!

calicokid,

I'm not really sure what I'm getting. I just ordered the part that Perko told me would work. I should be gettin it in a couple days and when I do I will post the results.

BTW: The house I live in is on Calico Street. My wife thinks that I paid the builder to name it after one of my favorite fishies, but it was just something that happened on it's own.

I'm sorry to say I used to be called the CalicoKiller, but that was years ago and I have since changed to catch and release on this great fish. Actually, most of my fishing is catch and release now. Just keep a few for the table, but never any bass. I'm glad that more and more people are getting on the wagon.

I’m mostly catch and release on Calicos, always on the big girls! I just love how they come off the grill too much not to keep 1 or 2 - 14”ers. Since I don’t freeze fish I only keep what I can eat in 3 days, I’ll also give fish away to some of my non angling friends, amazing how excited people get about FRESH fish. I only kill Calicos for my personal use my friends get the other guys. Looks like were getting more So. Cal. guys on this board all the time, might be fun to meet up some time? The bite looks like its starting to turn on I’ll be back on the water in 2 or 3 weeks after my neck surgery 2 weeks ago. I’d love to see a replay of last spring!!!

Locking gas thingy

Just received by FedEx the locking gas cap that Perko recommended.

It's not a gas cap, rather a thing that slides down in the fill pipe under the cap, but not attached to the cap.

You slide the thingy, actually called a locking insert, and turn the key. Looks very secure and difficult to remove without a key. It's designed not to drop any lower than it's designed so my initial worry about lossing it down the tank is fondless. Looks almost impossible to remove without a key. Just make sure you have a dupe or two laying around. It comes with two, but I would still suggest you make an additional key.

EDIT: I just saw the keys. They are attached to gas cap wrench thingy that you can use to lossen your gas cap. Nice touch.
