Water Skiing

Does anyone have experience w/ waterskiing or wakeboarding behind the 215 w/ a Yamaha 150? I recently purchased the boat and mostly have been cruising around the city. Plan to use for fish and hopefully ski. Any comments would be great.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I've pulled 1 skier behind my 170CC with a 60HP Merc 2 stroke. It wasn't super fast but got him up without any problem. You should be fine.

With son and two of his male friends (all 200 lbs plus) and three young women aboard (none over 120 soaking wet) and myself at well over 200, we have never had any problem tubing or wakeboarding. Just get the weight evenly distributed to make life a little easier.

I've got a 2006 215 Chaos with the Yamaha 150 4-stroke and we pull our teenage sons and their friends on skis and wake board with no problem. I bought a harness that clips on to the eyes on each side of the transom then comes together behind the motor with an attachment to clip to the ski rope. This gives you an even pull off the back of the boat without taxing one of the side cleats or just one eyebolt. The harness I bought also slides the ski rope connection from side to side depending on which direction you are turning in. It was a great addition for around $30.

I have a 3 person tube, and am able to haul at 25Mph+ no problem (even with a few folks on board. Make sure you get good tow harness and tow ropes. West marine has a harness for $23, it has clamps that snap on to transom, and floats so it doesn't foul up the prop. also, ramsey outdoors has 50 - 60' tow ropes with double splice ends which makes hook-up a breeze. If you plan to tube, I would recommend also buying a quick release that tubers can operate if they need to disconnect while underway. They are inexpensive as well, you can pick up for about $30. I haven't tried wakeboarding or skiing yet (kids are still to young), but I don't think you will have any problems.
