Taco outriggers - Top notch!!

I believe I am in the right forum here. If not I am sure it will be moved. I have only had the boat a short time, like a little over 2 months now. I purchased and installed the Taco 250 grand slam outriggers that are made to go directly in to the pre-made holes. The installation was really easy, it took me and a buddy about an hour to do the entire thing.

After getting the hardware installed, I still needed to run the lines and hook up the clips. I had a couple questions for them, and taco had great customer service people to deal with on the phone. After final rigging and testing them in my driveway, I was able to go out and use them on some albacore on our local fishing grounds. I have been very impressed with the ease of operation and the durablity. Also, these are quiet. A lot boat I been on the outriggers make a lot noise bouncing around and slamming into thing. In addition when these are not in use they close down nice and tight.

I know these are a little more spendy than some of the others on the market, but they give you the bang for the buck.

I only have a picture of the side profile with the outriggers down and put away, but I will add some more later of the actuall spread to the side and back when moving between spots.

Tylerderdan,

Clean look on your installation. Questions: You stated the out riggers mounted right in the pre-made holes. Pre-made? Were there already plates welded in place on the T-top? Did you need to modify your canvas in any way? Taco looks like a good product. But are the pre-made holes universal to fit most outriggers on the market?

And a big question for other owners or a dealer out there. Is the T-top on the 195 CC also set up as you describe your 215 CC?

Thank you for this post. The value of this site is unlimited.

You know Jim I am not sure of the 195 cc compared to the 215. On the 215cc, and mine is a 2007 I had a hole pre-made for the taco outrigger setup. It even had the four drilled and tapped holes on each side in the precise location. The only thing I needed to do was use a razor blade and cut an X at the big hole and also at the four little holes for the mounting screws. Installation was easy.

I will get some more photos up as soon as I get the boat back. I will say this though, it certainly made things nice trolling this past weekend for albacore. I had a four lure spread and never one issue. In fact we had a couple triple hookups. I cannot wait for marlin season, and start dragging a nice spread with these. The outriggers put the outter lines about 12 feet from the boat, it was like being on big sportfisher.

For those of you thinking of getting them, AND DO NOT have the brackets...TACO has clamp on brakets for out riggers and just about anything you need to mount on your t-top. I am not hard core into fishing as I would like to be...so I will just stick with my tiny fishing poles.

I have seen a triumph out in san diego area Fishing with the outriggers looks good, could it be you??

Thanks for adding the info about the clamps, I didn't know that. I was out 2 weeks ago out of San diego. I fished out shelter Island one day and Mission BAy the next both were offshore days for albacore. Who knows though, it might have been me.

Yup then it was you..I was out both weekends, launched out of mission at south shores. How did you do??? I got 2 on the first weekend.....and skunked on the last. 12 hours for nothing but a joy ride....I did get a good tan, ( or shall I say BURN>>> as I was so bored I told my first mate take over as I took a nap up front.
I am not going this weekend, I am installing my new radar, but look forward to the next, due to the fact that the DODO's have arrived.

In which direction do the handles on your Grandslams face? I am just about ready to buy a pair but it looks like the handle will hit the T-top support if it faces to the rear of the boat.
