Just Purchased a Used Triumph

I just bought the boat pictured below a couple of weeks ago. I'm looking for some information on what year it is. I bought it over the internet and never actually met the owner, just worked through a broker. I think it's a 2001.

It has a Mercury Optimax 250 on it and from what I've been reading 200hp is max. What problems can this cause? Runs good and gets on plane fast but I'm guessing it might not be good for the transom.

Previous owner took off the bow rail and I'd kind of like it on. Is it a one piece rail, impossible to ship? Does someone make aftermarker rails or should I just get someone to make it for me?

I'm living on St. Martin, the French side, and just starting to test and trust the boat. Staying pretty close to shore right now. Thinking about putting a 9.9hp Mercury on as a trolling/backup motor. Is this doable on this boat?

I have a lot of other questions, but don't want to clutter up this first contact too much. I've been reading posts for the last couple of hours.

Thanks in advance for your help.

columbus--welcome to the group and i must say that is a good looking boat from here!!! i want to strip my decals off and i will get are around to it someday

it is definitely not an 01!! if you look just above the anti foul paint ,there is an indent running the length of the boat. that was put there in either late 02 or 03 when the plant went with the current heat generating injected foam and had to reinforce the sides. the leaning posts are a later model item as well..my '01 does not have the indent, although the rubrail is the same. if you type your hull number here i can tell you the year for sure

the engine is an issue only if you get the warranty transfered and you definitely will void it if you hang a tiller back there

lots of folks here to help you out if needed

On the Starboard side of the transom just below the rud rail you will see the boats hull identification number. The last two numbers are the model number. If it is an 2001 the last two numbers will be 01.
The bow rail is a one piece unit. It could be cut and shipped and then welded back together or you can have one coustom made. Triumph ships them to dealers but im not sure of the cost of shipping.
As for the 250 HP outboard on a 210, find out what it weighs. The max weight fo a 210 transom is 550 lbs. If your not to much over that you may be alright but I wonder why someone would but a 250 HP motor on a 210? Could it have a weight problem due to water intrusion into the in ter hull or did the person just like power and speed? At any case I don't thank the hull warranty is any good now.
Putting a kicker motor on the transom is a doable project but you need to look at the total weight on the transom with both motors. I hope this info helps and good luck with the boat. Now bring on the rest of you concerns and questions. Bob

Thanks, I'll take a look at the hull number. Figured there was an easy way to figure that out.

Outboard weighs in at 505# dry, looks like it's close. I don't think they put it on for speed, top end is about 40MPH(GPS), but it does have a good hole shot. I don't know what prop is on it though. I've been reading about the water in the hull problem and will need to look into it. How do you know if you have that problem?

Okay here are a couple more questions...
I take it the fish boxes are not livewells, they are mainly made to hold ice. Is there a proven way to set them up as livewells?

I have a hose attachment on the port side of the center console. It is hooked up to a one foot piece of black hose inside the center console. What is it normally for?

I would think that a 250 HP outboard would push a 210 a little better than 40 MPH. My Yamaha F-150 will push my 215 43/45 MPH. It will get on plane in less than 3 1/2 seconds .( If I want it to) Check and see what Mercury says the max RPM is for your engine. I think it will be around 5400 RPM but im not sure. Let us know what is is and then let us know what it is doing and then we can help you more. Sounds like the weight is OK but I still think that a 250 should do better on the top end speed. Top end speed is not everything but you still want the engings performance to be at its best efficiency.
How do you know if you have a water intrusion problem?
Short of drilling holes the best way I know is to pull the boat onto a steep driveway or boat ramp and look into the bilge. If you see water squirting up out of the center seam of the top of the bilge, while looking through the aft main deck inspection port, Then you have water in the inter hull. Even if you don't you could still have water in other areas of the hull that can cause weight problems. Keep looking through older threads on this site and you will find more that you may want, but nice to know things about water intrusion.
Fish Boxes are for dead fish. You only need ice if its hot.
I havent read or know of anyone that has done anything with them other than create problems. Most of us would be happy they would drain. I don't know of any proven way to set them up as livewells put with time and cash we can do anything.
Your boat should have a Boat Wash Down system on it. That is the hose attachment on the port side of the center console. The one foot piece of black hose inside the center console that you seen should be hooked to a pump. Look on the dash and see if their is a toggel switch labeled "Wash Down". If so, thats what it is. The Live well and Wash Down systems draw supply water from the same place. Check and see if you have a Wash Down pump and hoses and check your live well system, is it all there?
Keep reading threads and you will find most if not all you want to know about your boat . THIS SITE RULES, Good Luck, Bob

there should be a black pump tied to the hose inside the console.
i did away with the pump and hose bib and moved it to the splash and relocated the pump inside the bilge. just something about mixing water/pumps with all my electrical system just doesnt sit well with me.
i have posted a how to under the logic boats forum for inner hull water drainage as this was more of a problem with the early 210 models.
do you not have a livewell under the leaning post??? set up right it will keep most bait alive 'till they get bit

The last 2 numbers are 01.(LOPGA257F001) I was told (rumor) the original owner had a problem with the boat, it split, and they gave him a new hull. They wouldn't transfer the hull number to a new hull, would they?

I actually checked the S/N on the boat and it is a 2003. I think the number in the Bill of Sale was the original S/N before the original owner got a replacement boat. I wonder how I should fix this so the Bill of Sale matches what I actually have?

Thanks For Clearing That Up, I Was Wanting To Say Late 02 Or 03 Was When They Made The Mold Change ,but I Didnt Want To Create A Rukus!!! I Would Have Thought Whoever You Bought The Boat From Should Have Used The 03 Serial #. That Is The One Triumph Will Want To Put The Warranty Under.
