Info from a 2 year pro in So. Calif.

I am the proud owner of a 2005 21ft Triumph. I absouluty love it. I bought it stripped, and put all the electronics on this center consol myself. I have a Raymarine C70 system and Radar with a fantastic VHS radio system mounted inside the center consol. I have pics for all this. I also installed a downrigger plate for a Scotty downrigger on the starboard rear corner that works fantastic. I also installed Isenglass wrap around on 3 sides to protect me from coming back from Catalina. Over the last 2 years, my dealer that sold it to me "Johnson Marine in Ontario, CA." has had 2 fishing tournaments out of Newport Beach Ca.. I have won both tournaments with fantastic prizes. Anyone that wants to upgrade a 21 footer, please respond to this thread. My next adventure is to install a Capstan anchor line puller on the bow of the boat, $400, and a lot of Mcguyver inginuity.

Congrats rodman. Was that you that caught that 32 pound halibut ? That was a beauty. I was there. Caught a 5.2 lb sand bass. Only had a Triumph 190. Couldn't get to Catalina like some guys did that day.

Getting a new 235 next month. Thinking about a C80 system and Isenglass as well. How do you like your C70 system ? When you split screen between radar and fish finder, is the size adequate ?

Hey rcargn,
That was not my Halibut. I and my buddy took 1st & 2nd in the men's division with the 22.9 and 22.8 yellowtail. Catalina is definitely the place to fish for a tournament. Your 19footer could have made it that day. It was glass going over and only a 1ft chop coming back.
Hey, I am dying to ride a 23.5 footer. When you get it, e-mail me a mreling@aol.com. I work for Bally Total Fitness and have clubs in Simi and Oxnard. Would love to do a sea trial with you out of Oxnard. What a great looking boat. Mucho $$$$ though. I envy you. Would love to upgrade also, but I think the boat registration would come with divorce papers.
Isenglass is a definite, but only after you put a t-top on the boat. I love my C-70, but I think you will have the room for a C-80. The split screen works fantastic. West Marine, etc can all show you the simulated effects of all the units. Just make sure you can get a clear view from where you are setting/standing.
Keep me posted on your progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This capstan line puller will take awhile, but I think it will be a first, so I will try to photo the whole install as I go along. At 60, I just gotta find a better way to pull the anchor when I am fishing all by myself.
Would love to hear from anyone that can tell me if the running lights on the bow wiring channel can hold a couple of #10 or #8 battery leads from the center consol. That will be the hardest part. Do you have any connections with the engineers at the plant. I don't think they left alot of room for extra wiring in that channel to the bow lights. Will keep you posted.

I ran 2 strands of 6 gauge for my trolling motors through the bow light conduit. It took about 30 minutes to run the wires from bow to console.

The capstan anchor retreiver is in progress

Just started buying the parts on-line and at the local west marine, hardware store, etc. Hope to finish the job for just under $1K. I know it sounds expensive, but I was quoted $2700 to have an outside source do it. Thank God I have a next door neighbor that does electorinics, etc. The labor is saving me a lot of $$$. Will do my best to take pics and log in the entire install of this Anchormax Capstan. On paper, everything seems like it will work out perfectly. My back is already starting to thank me for not having to pull the anchor line when it is 300 to 400 feet out. Will keep you all posted!!

The project has been started, and has turned into a nightmare. The plastic conduit from the bow running lights ends up about 2 inches below the front of the fuel tank. I called the factory and Russ said that they never thought that someone would be crazy enough to add something else onto the bow of the boat, so they never thought about placing the conduit higher and wider to pull extra wire. I have the entire back end of the boat torn up, and the fuel tank moved backwards to get the pull wire to pull the #6 battery wire leads for the capstan. My wife is looking at the boat as if it went through a hurricane. I just replied that it's GONNA HAPPEN!, and this 21 footer will have a capstan on the bow in the next couple of weeks. Everyone please pray, cause the worst of the project is done. I just have to spend about a $100 on elastrometic caulking to put all the major components back in place. Thank God the center consol did not have to be removed. We just had to pull up the seat/bait tank section and the rear bildge platform. Will check back with you later.
