Angry 2005 210cc Electrical Issues

Major issues with electrical to my components (baitwell, bilge pump, nav lights, horn, vhf radio, radar, fish finder) lately, as the components blink on/off for hours, any never stay on for more than 1 hour at a time.

This has been going on for the last 3 outings. Today was the day...bilge pump stop working and we started taking on water had to abort plans and get back to the ramp.

Oddly....I had full electronics when the entire bilge cavity is full of saltwater.

The motor, tach, gas gage performance are never affected by the anomally - I'm assuming this is due to independent circuit.

I have check all fittings from battery, battery switch, to buss for tightness.....Is there a wire in the bilge area that could be casuing a stray current and voltage drop?

Could the buss be messedd up....

Any help is appreciated.

Find the fuse box behind the dash and pull them out. There is probably corrosion on them. Make sure the drain tubes for the console shelf are attached. If you look in the bilge, there are connections from the bilge pump into the running wires to the cosole, and also the baitwell pump into running wires. Make sure those connections don't have corrosion. I have a 2005 210 and have had to replace all the connections. I have also run the boat completely flooded with no problem and everything worked fine. I think the problem is in your breaker box behind the dash.

I would definitely take it back to your dealer to have them take a look. Why were you taking on water though? Was there any other electrical device giving you problems today besides the bilge pump?

Thanks Stalker and NCangler.

I truly believe the issue lies within the wires that run within the bottom of the boat to the bilge and bait pumps. Called Triumph and they are in the process of obtaining the wiring diagrams for the '05 210cc.

Or could it be the low amp distribution panel. I did remove the fuse and cleaned those and that didn't do anything to improve the situation.

Water is entering excessively through the poorly designed scuppers (of which Triumph is in the process of re-engineering).

Again, all accessory electronics (nav/bilge/horn/bait/courtesy lights) flick on and off when the bilge area is dry, however when the bilge fills up with solid water (all is fine electrically). The screen on my bilge was clogged with (biofilm/sunflower seeds/fishing line) - unfortunately I wasn't able to get the pump out of its seat while on the water so that we could have emptied the transom.

One other question - how does one get the main deck plate off for inspection? it turns out Triumph over gooped (sealant) mine and I'm afraid it is going to take a crowbar and flame thrower to remove it.

Any help is appreciated.

Well your main deck lid, should only have a rubber gasket, that really does not work all that good, so undoing the screws, and pull up through your bilge access panel lid.

michael,

Mine was glued down with some black sealant stuff. I had to do just what you thought, use a small crow bar to get the seal broken. Then I lifted it in fits and starts with the bilge access hole as a hand hold.

I have now done what GGC did with his. Leave it unsealed as it does nothing for the boat to seal it and just makes it harder to remove when you need to access the bilge area.

Thanks guys,

Report coming soon regarding electrical issues.

The deck lid is off, and it looks as if Triumph or dealer used Silicone sealant of black, white and clear, in addition to foam strip to adhere the deck lid.

What a hack job!!!

Smile My Experience on 210 electrical issues

Hello,
I had the same experience. I removed the front panel on the console and all of the
circuit breaker connections and the connections to the switches were the problem.
You can tip the console and stick your hand in there and use your finger to push on the lugs.
If they rotate with little force, they all need tightened.

It might not be the same issue but it's worth a look. I found a connector on one of the boats a work that was totally corroded in the bilge. I posted a picture in the link below. Triumph has since stopped using the connector. Good luck
