Suzuki motors

Hi just a newbie trying to buy my first triumph. I'm looking at 215cc suzuki powered. Thinking about the 175 horsepower, but need some advise on the rest of the story. Four stroke will be new to me but I'm ready for the change. Does anyone else have more to share. Long shaft or short does, does the dealer make the choice or does Suzuki make the choice. Anything else that may make the decision easier would be much appreciated. Looking at this Saturday to final the deal. Anyone else powering the 215 with Suzuki 175 or better let me know what you think. Tks

Clyde54, welcome to the web site.

OK, first I know nothing about Suzuki motors.

That said, the Triumph web site lists the Suzuki DF 175 TXK8 as an available motor for the 215CC

The Suzuki web site lists the DF175TX as having a shaft length of 25 inches. So, I guess the shaft length has already been determined by Triumph.

We do have a 2005 210CC, so we really think you will enjoy your new boat.

Again, welcome, and please post some pictures when you get her home.

Welcome to the site Clyde! I also have a 215 with a 140 suzuki on it, and I love it. It is the perfect fit for gas mileage and range. But if those are not concerns, by all means go for the big boy. I can cruise at 23knots and still get 2.5 mpg. and those are real numbers, not factory or dealer specs. Either way, good luck with with your purchase and let us know what you end up with.

Great just talked to the dealer the suzuki would be xl on the shaft due to the 25" transom height. So I guessing they know and have it all figured out. Appreciate the info. Does anyone have any issue with water on the 215, I didn't really get into, but there are no transom drains w/plugs on these boats. Any help here or should I post in another area?

OK, so the engine issue is solved. One down.

If the next question is not about "Marine Engines", then if it was me I would ask the question in a different forum. Water does not sound like a "Marine Engine" type of question, unless you are not getting enough of it to cool the monster under the cowling.

Just to save you some time, please try the "Search" feature at the top of the page. It really does work on this site.

You might have to get a little more specific. As "Putershark" says, even the largest aircraft carrier has water "issues".

Hi Clyde

We just got our 215 in july with the 175. Powerwise with what is available today I would be hard pressed to buy anything else. I love this engine, quiet, fast, and you can troll with it just fine. WOT should give you 43+mph with full fuel and 2-3 adults and normal fishing gear. 4500rpm which is around 3mpg gets 32-35mdh on the GPS. The spedo on the boat is a bit more generous.

Almost forgot, see if your dealer will throw in a spare prop. I went to get a spare and found no aftermarket yet and the Suzuki is $550 from my dealer. They say it has so much torque it will bend the aluminum props. I do not really know. In the mean time I am more careful around the coast
