2007 215cc in so cal.

Hi, all I'm looking to purchase a 215cc ASAP and went down to the local dealer for some wheeling and dealing. They had a new left over 2007 215cc fully loaded with yami f150, t-top, fish pkg, trim tabs, stereo the dealer is offering 36k plus tax. Does this seem like a good deal for a boat that's already taken a hit on a years worth of deprciation? socal guys what kind of deals did you get for a similar 215cc? I'm seriously thinking about buying out of state as they are going for about 29k for the exact same boat....I don't mind paying 1-2k more to buy local but 7k is something to think about, even with 2k shipping I'll still save 5k!!!!..What do you guys think I should do, should I haggle the dealer more or just buy out of state, btw they are offering 39k for a 2008 model, this might be a better deal than paying 3k less for a 2007. Appreciate any and all advice, thanks.

There are two dealers here in socal, if one is not giving you the attention or any decent price breaks check the other one out. I checked out another dealer after the same experience and have been very pleased with the way things turned out. I do drive a little further, but for satisfaction I have gotten from this dealership I feel it has been well worth it. Beyond price, is the consideration of the dealership also and how you feel with them. Mine has been there and gone out of there way for me time and again to keep me happy. That's why they get all my service and maintenance, no questions asked.

A few things you should do before purchase though. Try and meet the owner if he's there. See how hands on the business he is. Meet the service coordinator, because that is going to be who you are dealing with from now on. Meet the parts guys and check out the selection on hand and see how flexible they are as to getting what you need. Talk to another existing customer there and get his or her experience about them. After you have done all that you are little better armed to make a decision than just price alone.

I could have probably found my boat cheaper out of state, or haggled price between dealers to get that last nickle saved. But I found my boat at a dealer with pretty much the options I wanted and negotiated to get it in my range where I was comfortable. I certainly have not regreted making the decision either.

Another angle is to find out how much an '08 is going to cost in comparison. If they're not giving a significant price break on a boat that's been sitting on the lot for a year, then you might as well get brand spanking new. Either that, or wait them out and see if it drops lower as the delivery date for new boats draws near.

When I bought my boat last February, it had been sitting on a dealer's lot for a year, and they discounted it by over $5,000 to unload it.

Remy,
I haven't been on line in awhile, but you are paying alot of $$$ for this in-state boat. I bought my 2005 215 150 Yamaha from Johnson Marine in Ontario in July of 2005. They were closing out the 2005 models. I got a t-top and that was it. It cost me $28K. I and my next door neighbor (marine electronic outfitter) did all the electronics. I did a downrigger (see my pics) and I just did a windlass vertical capstan for the anchor line. Thank God I am mechanically inclined. If you can do your own stuff, or if you have friends that can help--buy out of state!!!!
