Question Bow mounted trolling motor for the 210CC

I have a 2002 210CC Triumph and would like to see installation pictures from anyone that has mounted a trolling motor on the bow of a 210CC. Pictures and guidance would be very helpful. It would be helpful to know what model electric motor, shaft length, and type of mount have been successfully used with the 210CC.

Thanks for any assistance offered.

Dansko,

Ever think about mounting a trolling motor on your outboard? The reason being..If you have a bow rail your probably going to have to chop it, and then your going to need at least a 62+inch shaft for your bow mount, and then your going to have to come up with some kind of bracket + wiring and then your probably going to have a real tight fit to your anchor locker.

I gave it some consideration last year, and then I went with a Navigator 55lb thrust 24 volt trolling motor which installs on your cavitation plate (check out my gallery) on your outboard, and it works really good for what I need It for(stealth). The only thing I would of done now is went and maybe spent the extra money for the 110 lb thrust, just so I would have the extra power in the event that I need It, but other than that the 55lb thrust moves the boat real good!

Lightbulb

Here is another option you may want to consider if you want to save your bow rail

Lightbulb Mounting a trolling motor

I considered mounting a trolling motor on the rear of the boat but when you move the boat through a stump field on a fresh water lake you need the control that comes with a forward mounted trolling motor.

I started the project by talking to a dealer in North Carolina that has mounted a half dozen trolling motors on the bow of the 210CC. He recommended the Minn Kota Pontoon version of the Power Drive motors. The Pontoon version comes in a 68 pound thrust with a 48" shaft and is a 24 volt motor. I didn't like the 48" shaft so I purchased the Minn Kota 70 PD with a 54" shaft. It will operate on 24 volts.

I have a metal shop that will build a custom mount out of stainless steel that will span the anchor and allow it to be deployed when the trolling motor is up. The motor will lay from left to right when stored.

The Power Drive motors don't use the sissors type of mount so they require much less height when deployed. After the mount is completed if the bow rail is in the way during deployment and retrieval, ie. if the motor can't deploy without hitting the rail, I'll have the rail cut and a hinge/pin put in so it is still fully functional, still looks right and will swing open to allow the motor to deploy.

When the job is finished I'll take pictures and post them along with the cost of the work.

Thanks for the suggestion

Unhappy Trolling motor

I had a question I forgot to ask. Can anyone tell me exactly where the wire will come out when it's fed through the tube in the bow of the 210CC. I will use 6 GA wire and I've already fed about 14 feet of it into the tube, but so far I haven't located it under the center console, I really don't want to take-out the center console if I can avoid it.

Thanks

Smile Trolling motor wiring

I've mounted the trolling motor and am evaluating the location and usability before I post pictures. I think I'm going to wind up having to remove the bow rail before it's all done and said. The motor currently runs in front of the the most forward port bow rail post and under the point of the bow rail. It's a pain in the butt to raise and lower the motor in this configuration but I don't want to lose the bow rail, yet.

To clear up a question I asked earlier, when running wire from the bow to the center console there's a tube provided which has the wires for the bow lights on the starboard side accessable through the anchor locker access port. The tube comes into the center console on the upper front starboard corner. In my case a careless employee allowed the end of the tube to be filled with about 1.5"s of rule when the boat was assembled. This creates a huge headache because removing this "plug" without removing the center console was impossible. So, I cut an access slot in the side of the plastic tube about 2" before it entered the center console (my boat has a T-Top so there was an access port right there) then I routed the 2 strands of 6 gauge wire through the cut into the tube and forward. I drilled a hole back into the center console next to where the original tube should have come out if it wasn't for the plug then routed the wire up into the center console through the normal boot location.

I had to add a 3rd battery so I could run 24 volts to the trolling motor and still have access to two 12 battery sources. Wiring for 12 volt in one direction and 24 volts in the other means one of the battery's gets included in both circuits, that would be the original battery #2. I also added a 3 battery charger that can handle dual purpose batterys. I elected to use three of the dual purpose type batterys instead of mixing regular and deep cycle batterys. I may have to replace the batterys sooner but it simplefied my charging problems.

So far the the Minn Kota PD 70 motor has more than enough thrust to move the boat around even in 25 Mph winds. I was concerned that the T-Top would add to much wind resistance but it's no problem.
