Another hull drain question

I have a 2004 210cc with the hull drain installed off center to the left and approximately 10 inches deep. After reading the forums it sound like the drain need to be 12 inches deep and on the right side of the centerline. Any help would be great.

Check with the factory for it may have been updated, but back when I installed mine on our old 210 many years ago... It took 2 of them... 1 inch up and 1 inch over from the center line of the hull.

Barry,

You will find that the inner hull drains have been installed on either side of center. Mine is on the starboard side. They have to be off center to miss the stainless steel stringer on the keel line. The area of the inner transom that this drain accesses is open to water collection from both sides. It is not like the other models of Triumph where two drains are required.

Some have mucked out more and some less of the foam inside the transom. I think that is up to you. Mine is only a few inches deep and seems to drain just fine.

Not all 210s drain lots of water either. If you get only a few drops consider yourself lucky. If you get lots of water, check the hull for cracks, both inner and outer.

Find out who did the install and ask them some questions. How much water did the initial drill job produce would be a good one to know. Also was the install done after the owner detected an increase in weight or did they do it for good measure and find little or no water at install. My '04 has never had more than a few drops after each use. It still weighs the same as new, at least it has no detectable increase in weight or loss of performance.

I fully agree with Codfish.

I might get a drop or two, but always open it at the ramp before comming home.
