hole in hull

i was working on my 08 215 today and noticed a hole about 1\4' dim. under the winch eye hook bracket on the bow, it looks like someone drilled the bolts hole for the eye hook bracket in the wrong place and could not use the hole, you can tell that the hole goes through the hull.i know this hole needs to be patched, i have had my boat in the water about 10 times so far.my question is' is this hole above or below the inter hull. do i need to be worried water intrusion on the inter hull by my measurments it is above the inter hull. it was like this from the factory. thanks

I contacted Triumph on this for you just be sure. Here was the response:
Quote:
That is the drain hole for the anchor storage locker, it is above the waterline and isn't a point for water intrusion into the inner hull.

You should not have a problem with the splash well voids and water. All 210/215's made since June 1st 2005 until now have a new rotomolded block that almost completely fills the void under the splashwell plates. Any water that does get by the plates is limited to a cup full or so. For anyone that has a 210/215 made prior to June 2005 you can contact your dealer to receive the new inserts and a tube of RULE Elastomeric for $20.00. Check out post #41 in the this thread. You can also read about Osprey Vic's modification to provide access rather than using the inserts.

I know exactly how you felt glehav when you found the achor locker drain. Then first time I noticed the "hole" in my boat I almost hit the ceiling. I thought it was vandalism! After I checked it out and realized it was a drain I laughed about how mad I was.

You'll want to check that drain hole from time to time to make sure no trash clogs it up. I use a 12" piece of Roplene welding rod to clear it from time to time. A pipe cleaner or something like that would work too. I also use it to clear the drain hole on the motor if it ever clogs up.

thanks bigmall i am planning to go to the gulf for a week in a few days and when i saw the hole in my boat. i fell to my knees. the dealer is 200 miles away. its not like i can just take it around the corner and get it fixed. the hole trip would have been put off. but thanks to you guys you have ended all my fears. now only thing left to do is find where the fish are.

I wouldn't have cancelled the trip because of a 1/4 inch hole. You could have squirt a shot of Rule in that puppy, let it cure and go fishing. Fix it when you get back if you want. Of course that doesn't matter now, but for future reference, keep a tube of Rule on hand and don't cancel any fishing trips.

Tight lines.

Take it from someone who knows hull holes, a dab of Rule will last at least one season in the harshest saltwater environment, beating bay chop and Gulf runs as well as road grime. Rule will skimm over as soon as you get water on it but may take 7 days for a complete cure(for a nice cosmetic finish), just don't leave home without it cause nothing else will stick to your hull! (well, maybe 3M primer, algea, barnacles and tannin water stain)
