splash wells

I have a 2005 210 CC , I purchased boat in Nov 2004. I was reading the articals on the splash wells.
How can I tell if mine leak. Will the kit discussed for $20.00 by Triumph complete the job.
Is job difficult. Is there drainedg below the splash wells. And last if this is not corrected will it cause
any damage. My hull # is US TRBJ0128H405, could you please check to see if my boat has the new
or old gasket material to seal wells.
Respectfully
Steve Pagano

Hi Steve. Since you purchased the 2005 boat in the fall of 2004, it probably has the older foam inserts in the splash well. I would check with your dealer (Hooked On the Bay?) as you can get the $20 kit from your dealer. If you hear any sloshing around when on the trailer you will know that water has collected in them. It is not a problem, just a bit of a nuisance and if the water has been there awhile you may notice an odor. To replace them you simply unscrew the splash well deck lids, clean out the splash wells, clean the lids, insert the new rotomoulded inserts, then use RULE Elastomeric liberally to seal the covers and the screws.

On my first Triumph (2003 210) I did the modification that Osprey Vic recently did, installing deck access lids in the covers so that I could periodically unscrew the lids and insert a wet/dry vac hose to clear them, then screw the lids back on. With my 2006 215 it has the new rotomoulded inserts and if there is any water in there is a minimal amount so I don't worry about it.

I hope this helps.

Genelie, The kit doesn't have a gasket in it. There are two roto-moulded plastic inserts that should fill most of the splash well cavity and there is a tube of RULE Elastomeric sealant to seal the lids back on. I'll post a picture later this afternoon of what is in the kit.

me too! I put the access holes in a couple years ago, mine still leak, I empty out once in a while but its a hassle without having a shop vac on hand all the time, and I usually keep my boat on a trailer at the Marina, so cant always get access to it. and yes it stinks after a bit!!

Guys, I am NOT saying that the new Triumph solution will not work. I am suggestiong that at least look at the thread below.

My Transom Well Modification

Thanks to those that went before me, what we did worked. I have a feeling that some folks did not properly lubricate their "O" rings which helped them leak. Others did not add more than one layer of "Rule". As I stated on the last post I made on page two of the above thread, water stayed in our splashwells all day, then we used our pressure washer in getting the blood off, and the voids were still dry when we opened them. I can't ask for more than that.

Vic... I did basicly what you did to the splash wells minus the access though. I will admit your job is beautiful. Mine stayed dry untill the first hard winter..it was just over a yr. The hard winter pulled screws through the lids and made mess of the rule... Imay just open them up and forget it. .or just forget it.
