Just some observations of the 03 210cc

Last April I bought an 03 210cc sight unseen on ebay from a dealer in FL. I knew it was a risk but did not have time to go and check it out. Have a cousin in Naples who looked it over and said it looked like a good boat. Anyway I got it for 16K so I thought if need be I could put some money into it if necessary. I picked he boat up in Novemeber and towed it to Texas where I spent the winter. The boat tows very very easily. Before I even put it in the water, I had a mechanic go over it from bow to stern. The water pump and oil pump needed replacing along with some corroded wiring. Also had a fishfinder/gps and vhf radio installed ($1300.00)So the big day came and we cast off from the ramp at Port Aransas. We just ran around for a few hours to get the feel of the boat and see how she handles. I was able to cruise at 38mph according to gps. I used it a lot this winter and had compliments on it every time I took it out. Often times the water was choppy and the boat gave a very safe feeling and dry ride. All in all I ended up with a great boat and I'm very pleased with it Here are some things I noticed that were less than perfect. None of my compartments stay dry (after washing it down at the carwash...the seals appear to be good)and none seem to drain completely. The fit on the back hatches(rear seat) is not true. When launching the boat, I have to climb up on the winch and over the bow rail to get in the boat. I reverse the process when I exit the boat after driving it back onto the trailer. This did not become a serious issue until I slipped while standing on the winch tower and landed square on top of the winch frame! Fortunately I missed the boys by a fraction of an inch but I was black and blue and sore for days. My wife is reading over my shoulder and just reminded me of the sickening thud she heard. She said the whole truck and boat shook! So all in all buying a TRIUMPH sight unseen was not as risky as it sounds. Including the fishfinder gps, vhf radio, antennea, and minor repairs I have less than $19K invested in a great boat.

Here are a couple threads about improving the boarding problem at the ramp.

What a great idea! Are you making and selling them? Or did you just make the one set?

I won't be making any to sell, there just isn't enough in it for me. But the other link has a web sight where they are available.

Trailer Steps

Hey RSCOTT, do you have any drawings of the steps you made or measurements that some of the rest of us could make our own easier? You really did an outstanding job. That's why there would be demand if you did decide to produce them. Thanks.

Steps

I just built them on the fly. Sorry no drawings. But I can tell you how I did it. I made a wood mock-up using a pine 2 X 2 and a compound miter saw to get then angles on the supports that I wanted. I kept cutting and fitting till I had the steps where I wanted them then duplicated the wood with square tube and added a gusset on each. The main reason I really couldn't make them for others is every boat/trailer combination would require a different placement and height of steps. If you look at the websight of the gentleman thats making them you will see he has a whole series of measurements you take for your application. I made my own only because I didn't like his method of using U-bolts around the tongue of the trailer at two different mounting locations, I just wanted a little cleaner install, and I had the material, equipment and some spare time.
